Defining the Middle Line of Further Portion of the Huru-nui-Waitaki Railway (Portion of Branch from Main Line to Upper Ashburton, Mount Somers Contract).

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the Hurunui-Waitaki Railway (portion of branch from main line to Upper Ashburton, Mount Somers Contract) is one of the railways specified in the First Schedule to "The Public Works Act, 1879," and which Act is, in the seventh section thereof, declared to be a special Act authorizing the construction of such railway; and such railway is unfinished, and it has been determined to construct and maintain a further portion of the same:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the aforesaid section seven of "The Public Works Act, 1879," and by sections one hundred and twenty-nine and one hundred and thirty of "The Public Works Act, 1882," and in exercise of every other power and authority in any-wise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle line of the said further portion of the said railway shall be as defined and set forth in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

COMMENCING at a point in Rural Section No. 30782 distant 14 chains 70 links or thereabouts from the westernmost corner thereof, the said point being the termination of the Cavendish Contract of the Upper Ashburton Branch-line of Railway, as described in the Proclamation dated the 9th July, 1883, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 66, and dated the 12th July, 1883; proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly direction for a distance of 1 mile 47Β½ chains or thereabouts, and passing in, into, through, or over the following lands: Rural Sections Nos. 30782, 25994, 25993, the River Ashburton, Rural Sections Nos. 34048, 17771, and 34054, and terminating at a point on the north-eastern boundary of said Rural Section No. 34054 distant about 5 chains from the northernmost corner thereof; as shown on the map of the Chief Surveyor of the Province of Canterbury; including all adjoining roads, reserves, streams, rivers, and watercourses; all in the Mount Somers Road District, in the Provincial District of Canterbury, in the Colony of New Zealand; in the manner delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 13014, deposited in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court at Christchurch, in the Provincial District of Canterbury.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General

in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this eighth day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five.

Revoking the Setting-apart of Land for the Hodgkinson Village Settlement.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the twentieth section of "The Land Act 1887 Amendment Act, 1879," I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the Proclamation issued on the sixth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five, setting apart the Hodgkinson Village Settlement, shall be altered so far as regards the section of land mentioned in the Schedule hereto; and I do proclaim and declare that the said section shall be withdrawn from sale as a deferred-payment section, in the village settlement aforesaid, and that it shall be open for sale for cash at the rate of Β£2 10s. an acre.

SCHEDULE.

VILLAGE SETTLEMENT OF HODGKINSON: Allotment No. 8, Section No. 35, containing 9 acres 3 roods 35 perches.
