Militia Notice.
Defence Office,
Wellington, 29th April, 1885.
IT is hereby notified for public information that the Militia
rolls have been prepared at Wellington, Auckland,
Christchurch, and Dunedin, and are now posted.
All persons liable to serve in the Militia, but whose names
do not appear in the lists so posted, are informed that under
the existing Militia Act it is incumbent upon them, under a
penalty, to give in their names, ages, and places of residence
to the Adjutant or Commanding Officer of the Militia dis-
trict, with a view to the completion of the rolls, and it will
be publicly notified by the Commanding Officer of each
district, as soon as possible, at what hours and places such
persons can comply with the Act.
In order to meet the convenience of persons resident at a
distance, written communications addressed to the Adjutant
of the Militia district will be sufficient, provided that they
contain the prescribed information as to full name, age, and
place of residence.
As under the existing Act the Governor is empowered to
draw out such part of the Militia as he may deem advisable,
it is desirable that, in addition to the above prescribed in-
formation, persons liable to serve in the Militia should state
whether they are married or single.
