Notice under “Native Land Laws Amendment Act, 1883.”
I, JOHN EDWIN MACDONALD, Chief Judge of the Native Land Court, do hereby, in compliance with the duty imposed upon me by “The Native Land Laws Amendment Act, 1883,” give notice that on the 20th day of March, 1885, the title to the lands mentioned in the Schedule herein became, within the meaning of the said Act, ascertained; and, further, that dealings with the said lands will cease to be prohibited by the provisions of the said Act on the 29th day of April, 1885.
SCHEDULE.
NAME by which land is known: Waihirere. Native Land Court District wherein situate: Bay of Plenty. Area: 2 roods 14 perches.
Name by which land is known: Whakapaupakihi. Native Land Court District wherein situate: Bay of Plenty. Area: 5,710 acres.
Name by which land is known: Whakapaupakihi No. 1. Native Land Court District wherein situate: Bay of Plenty. Area: 200 acres.
Name by which land is known: Whakapaupakihi No. 3. Native Land Court District wherein situate: Bay of Plenty. Area: 200 acres.
Name by which land is known: Whakapaupakihi No. 4. Native Land Court District wherein situate: Bay of Plenty. Area: 800 acres.

Gold-Mining Leases to be granted.
IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of “The Mines Act, 1877,” and with the regulations made under that Act for the granting of leases for gold-mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant leases of Crown lands for gold-mining purposes to the applicants specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against such leases.
Objections to the granting of such leases, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and lodged with the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Christchurch, on or before the 9th day of April, 1885.
Copy of the applications made and plans annexed may be seen at the Crown Lands Office, Christchurch.
SCHEDULE.
APPLICANT: John Roberts. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: “Hopeful Company.” 16 acres 2 roods, North Creek, starting from southern end of North Creek Company’s Lease, and running south 400 yards by 200 yards, in the Wilberforce Mining District.
Applicant: Walter Charles Nicholls. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: “Star of the North Company.” 16 acres 2 roods, North Creek, starting from southern end of lease applied for in the name of John Roberts, running southerly 400 yards by 200 yards westerly, in the Wilberforce Mining District.
Applicant: Richard Henry Mathews. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: “Kea Quartz-Crushing Company.” 16 acres 2 roods, starting from southern boundary of lease applied for in the name of H. Revell, 400 yards westerly, in the Wilberforce Mining District.

Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: “The Gladstone Gold-Mining Company.” 16 acres 2 roods, Revell’s Creek; bounded on the South by lease No. 5, 908 links, and extending north-easterly a distance of about 18 chains on an approximate true bearing of 44°, the northern boundary being at right angles to western boundary; in the Wilberforce Mining District.
Applicant: M. Duncan. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: “United Quartz-Mining Company.” 16 acres 2 roods, Moa Creek, south of lease No. 4, in the Wilberforce Mining District.
Applicant: W. F. Warner. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: “Dry Gulch Gold-Mining Company.” 16 acres 2 roods, adjoining Nos. 2 and 3, in the Wilberforce Mining District.
Applicant: W. H. Wood. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: “Harp Gold-Mining Company.” 16 acres 2 roods, No. 2, South Browning’s Pass, in the Wilberforce Mining District.
Applicant: W. F. Warner. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: “Boundary Gold-Mining Company.” 16 acres 2 roods, joining No. 2 Lease northwards, in the Wilberforce Mining District.

Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: “Cosmopolitan Gold-Mining Lease.” 16 acres 2 roods, Section No. 9, Block X., Ngakawau, Kawatiri District, being gold-mining lease surveyed for William Campbell, known as the Nui Pai Company, in the Nelson South-West Mining District.
