Fixing Shooting Season for Native Game, Kaikoura District.

Wm. F. DRUMMOND JERVOIS, Governor.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and “The Animals Protection Act Amendment Act, 1881,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint all that area comprised within the Counties of Amuri and Kaikoura to be a district under the said Acts, to be called the Kaikoura District; and I do hereby notify that native game (excepting tuis) may be taken or killed within the said district from the first day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five, both inclusive.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this thirtieth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five.

White Heron and Crested Grebe protected.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that, from and after the date hereof, white herons (Ardea alba) and crested grebe (Podiceps cristatus) shall come within the operation of the said Act as fully and effectively as if they had been included in the Fourth Schedule thereto; and I do further notify and declare that the said birds shall not be taken or killed within the said Colony of New Zealand.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this thirtieth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five.

Notice to Mariners, No. 9 of 1885.

Marine Department,
Wellington, 30th March, 1885.

A PROCLAMATION has been issued by the Governor of Victoria in Council prohibiting all foreign or over-sea vessels entering Port Phillip between sunset and sunrise, and providing that intercolonial or home-trade vessels may enter, but are requested to anchor off Queenscliff until cleared by officers who will be there in attendance; also providing that no vessel will be permitted to navigate the South or West Channels unless in charge of a licensed Pilot.

Adoption of “The Rating Act, 1882,” by the Town Board of Woolston.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Town Board of Woolston, on or about the 18th day of November, 1884, duly passed a resolution to the effect that it desires to adopt “The Rating Act, 1882,” and that such resolution is in the words and figures following, namely:—

“That the Woolston Town Board desires to adopt the Rating Act of 1882, and rate under that Act for the year 1885.”

Adoption of “The Rating Act, 1882,” by the Town Board of Linwood.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Town Board of Linwood, on or about the 10th day of November, 1884, duly passed a resolution to the effect that it desires to adopt “The Rating Act, 1882,” and that such resolution is in the words and figures following, namely:—

“1. That the Linwood Town Board decides to levy rates upon the rateable property in its district under the provisions of ‘The Rating Act, 1882.’

“2. That a copy of the aforesaid resolution be forwarded to the Property-Tax Commissioner by the Clerk to this Board at the earliest possible date, with a request that the Commissioner forward to the Clerk of this Board the valuation roll as provided for in the second proviso of section 58 of the said Act.”

NOTICE is hereby given that the Town Board of Helensville, on or about the 23rd day of July, 1884, duly passed a resolution to the effect that it desires to adopt “The Rating Act, 1882,” and that such resolution is in the words and figures following, namely:—

“That the Helensville Town Board desires to adopt ‘The Rating Act, 1882,’ as the Rating Act for the Helensville Town District.”
