Notice under "The Native Land Laws Amendment Act, 1883."

WHEREAS the estate and interest of Hami Wheraro, aboriginal native of New Zealand, in the land described in the Schedule hereto, is vested in Pera Wheraro, as trustee under the provisions of "The Maori Real Estate Management Act, 1867," and the several amendments thereof, subject to certain restrictions on the alienation of such land, and application has been made for the removal of such restrictions:

It is hereby notified that it is intended, immediately after the expiration of sixty days from the publication of this notice in the Gazette and in the Kahiti, to remove the said restrictions on the alienation of the said land in respect of the interest aforesaid, in order that the said land may be leased by the said trustee for a term of fourteen years from the 1st July, 1884.

Removal of Hulk, Semaphore Anchorage.

Notice is hereby given that it is intended to at once remove the hulk "Fitzjames" (from which a fixed red light is exhibited at night) to a position 760 yards E. by N. northerly from the present site.

By-law for New Zealand Railways.

NEW ZEALAND RAILWAYS.

PRIVATE SIDING ACCESS.

By-law.

IN pursuance of the powers vested in me by section 144 of "The Public Works Act, 1882," I, Edward Richardson, Minister for Public Works, do hereby make the following by-law; such by-law to come into force forthwith:

A limited number of private sidings only can be granted at stations, and such sidings only will be granted as the Railway Department, after full consideration, finds can conveniently and safely be allowed.

Many persons, having hastily and rashly assumed that siding access can be obtained at any point on the railways or in any position adjacent to a station, have committed themselves to undertakings involving expense and responsibility, and have been disappointed in afterwards failing to obtain compliance with their applications.

All persons are warned that no siding access will be permitted without the formal consent of the Minister for Public Works, in writing, is first obtained, and that no considerations will be given to applicants upon the plea that they have incurred expense in anticipation of obtaining such consent.

Alterations and Additions to the Scale of Fares and Charges in force on New Zealand Railways.

IN accordance with section 144 of "The Public Works Act, 1882," I, Edward Richardson, the Minister for Public Works, do hereby make the following alterations and additions to the scale of charges, to come into force forthwith:

Goods consigned for exhibit at the Industrial Exhibition, to be held at Wellington during August, 1885, will be carried free on the New Zealand Railways, provided that they shall be so carried at the sole risk of the consignors, and that each package shall be consigned to the Secretary of the Exhibition, and marked legibly "For exhibit at Wellington Industrial Exhibition," and that the loading and unloading shall be done at the expense of the consignors, and that in the event of such exhibits being sold the full railway charges shall be paid.

Exhibits returning may be conveyed free, provided no sale or exchange has been effected. A certificate to this effect must be produced, signed by the Secretary of the Exhibition, before the goods can be received for transit free of charge.

SPECIAL ORDER.

THE Wallace County Council hereby declares the roads described in the Schedule hereto to be county roads.

Schedule.

  1. The road commencing at county road north-west of Section 23, Block IX., Jacob's River Hundred, and extending north-west of said Section 23; thence westerly north of Section 21 of said block; thence southerly west of Sections 21, 20, and 19 of said block; thence westerly north of Block IV. of said hundred to Section 11, Block V., of said hundred; thence westerly north of Sections 11, 27, 28, 29, 30 of said Block V. to north-west corner of said Block V.

  2. The road commencing at eastern boundary of Section 48, Oreti Hundred, and extending in a westerly direction through Section 48, north of Sections 135, 133, 132, 131, 130, through Sections 79 and 4, all of Oreti Hundred, to two-chain road; thence south-west through said Section 4 to county road at junction of Bayswater and Gladfield Roads.
