Vesting Reserves in the Borough of Waimate.

WHEREAS by section thirty-eight of "The Land Act
1877 Amendment Act, 1884," it is provided that the
reserves to be made for any borough or town district under
such section shall be made only in cases where no such
reserves for the purpose of sections three, five, and six of
"The Plans of Towns Regulation Act, 1875," exist therein,
or, if existing, do not equal or exceed the amount of reserves
authorized to be made under such last-mentioned Act:
And whereas the existing reserves for the Borough of
Waimate do not equal the amount of reserves authorized to
be made under "The Plans of Towns Regulation Act, 1875,"
and it appears expedient to make the reserves hereinafter
mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the thirty-
seventh and thirty-eighth sections of "The Land Act 1877
Amendment Act, 1884," and of all other powers enabling me
in this behalf, do hereby declare that the lands enumerated
in the first column of the Schedule hereto shall be and the
same are hereby reserved for the purposes respectively stated
opposite to the description of such land in the second column
hereto, for the benefit of the Borough of Waimate, as consti-
tuted under the provisions of "The Municipal Corporations
Act, 1876," on the eighth day of September, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-nine.

Notice of Intention to change the Purpose of a Portion of
a Reserve.

WHEREAS by "The Public Reserves Act, 1881," it is,
amongst other things, enacted that the Governor
may declare his intention to make, change, exchange, or
alter the dedication of any public reserve now or hereafter
vested in Her Majesty or the Governor for any of the pur-
poses named in Class II. of the Schedule to the said Act,
whether the same be granted or not; and, in the case of any
reserves made under the authority of section one hundred
and forty-four of "The Land Act, 1877," if it shall, in the
opinion of the Governor, be expedient to change the purpose
of such reserves or any part thereof from the purpose or pre-
sumed purpose for which it was set apart to any other pur-
pose, or if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expe-
dient to exchange any of the land comprised in such reserve
for other land of equal value, to be dedicated to one or more
purposes named in the said Class II., the Governor may, by
notice in the Gazette, declare his intention to make such
change, exchange, or dedication, as the case may be, and in
such notice declare the manner and terms in which the same
is intended to be so made:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in
exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested
in me by "The Public Reserves Act, 1881," aforesaid, declare
my intention to change the specific purpose of a portion of
the reserve described in the first column of the Schedule
hereto, the area of which is described in the second column
of the said Schedule, to the specific purpose set opposite
such description in the third column of the said Schedule.

ment Act, 1882," I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint
JAMES BOOTH, Esquire,
to be the Returning Officer for the Native Licensing District
of Tolago, vice George Augustus Preece, resigned.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twenty-sixth day of December, one thou-
sand eight hundred and eighty-four.

tendent Collectors of Agricultural Statistics for the collection
of February, 1885, under "The Census Act, 1877," and to
define that the district for which each shall act shall be that
portion of the colony comprised by the counties or parts of
counties specified opposite his name, including the boroughs
within their defined boundaries:—
