Application for a Patent.

PATENT for an Improved Stump Extractor.

WILTON HACK, of Glen Oak, Williams River, in the Colony of New South Wales, Gentleman, has deposited at this office a specification of the said invention; and I have appointed Tuesday, the 4th day of November next, at 11 o’clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the said application and all objections thereto; and I require all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 20th day of October next, at this office, particulars in writing of their objections to the said application, otherwise they will be precluded from urging the same.

Te Makarini Scholarships.

TWO Scholarships of the yearly value of £35 each, to be held at the Native College, Te Aute, Hawke’s Bay, are offered for competition to Maori youths, on the conditions laid down in the Regulations of the Trustees of the Te Makarini Scholarships Fund, as printed in the Native Schools Code, 1884, except that the laws of health will not be one of the subjects of examination. The examination will be held at convenient centres on the 15th and 16th of December, 1884.

Candidates must, either directly or through their teachers, send notice to the Inspector of Native Schools, Education Department, Wellington, of their intention to present themselves for examination. Such notice must be posted not later than the 31st October next.

Copies of the regulations and forms of notice may be obtained from teachers of Native schools and boarding institutions, the Secretaries to Education Boards, or the Secretary to the Education Department.

Tenders for Purchase of Steam-engine and Rock-drill.

WRITTEN tenders will be received up to the 31st December, 1884, for the purchase of a new portable steam-engine and diamond rock-drill, with bits 2 inches in diameter, 2,000 feet of rods, and all necessary gearing for working the same, to bore at any angle. Lately imported from America, at the cost of £2,160.

For further particulars apply to the Chairman of the Inangahua County Council, Reefton.

The highest or any tender not necessarily accepted.

Gold Fields Notices.

Gold-Mining Leases cancelled.

IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to pronounce the under-mentioned gold-mining leases cancelled, and that the ground is now open for application as if no leases of the said ground had ever been applied for:—

John Fox; 3 acres, District of Waitakere, Section 62, Block VI., Nelson South-West Mining District.

M. Syron, Stoney Creek Gold-Mining Company; 16 acres 2 roods, Section 53, Block II., Kawatiri District, Nelson South-West Mining District.

Gold-Mining Lease to be granted.

IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of “The Mines Act, 1887,” and with the regulations made under that Act for the granting of leases for gold-mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease of Crown lands for gold-mining purposes to the applicants specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against such lease.

Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and lodged with the Warden at Charleston on or before the 2nd day of September, 1884.

Copy of the application made and plan annexed may be seen at the Warden’s Office at Charleston.

SCHEDULE.

APPLICANTS: Thomas Shine, James FitzGerald, and Eugene Shine. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: “The Croninville Gold-Mining and Water-Supply Company.” 10 acres, at Croninville Flat, near Lowe and Darby’s Extended Claim, in the Nelson South-West Mining District.

Given under my hand, at Nelson, this nineteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

Gold-Mining Lease to be granted.

Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and lodged with the Warden at Ross on or before the 27th day of September, 1884.

Copy of the application made and plan annexed may be seen at the Warden’s Office at Ross.
