ALL that piece or parcel of land situated in the Provincial District of Wellington, containing by admeasurement 400 acres, more or less, and being Section No. 387 on the plan of Block IX., in the Wairoa Survey District.

Notice of Intention to change the Purpose of a Reserve.

WHEREAS by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” it is, amongst other things, enacted that the Governor may declare his intention to make, change, exchange, or alter the dedication of any public reserve now or hereafter vested in Her Majesty or the Governor for any of the purposes named in Class II. of the Schedule to the said Act, whether the same be granted or not; and, in the case of any reserves made under the authority of section one hundred and forty-four of “The Land Act, 1877,” if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to change the purpose of such reserves or any part thereof from the purpose or presumed purpose for which it was set apart to any other purpose, or if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to exchange any of the land comprised in such reserve for other land of equal value, to be dedicated to one or more purposes named in the said Class II., the Governor may, by notice in the Gazette, declare his intention to make such change, exchange, or dedication, as the case may be, and in such notice declare the manner and terms in which the same is intended to be so made:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” aforesaid, declare my intention to change the specific purpose of the reserve described in the first column of the Schedule hereto to the specific purpose set opposite such description in the second column of the said Schedule.

Description and Purpose of Reserve. Intended Purpose.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Otago, containing by admeasurement 1 rood, more or less, situate in the Township of Outram, and being Section No. 8, Block II., of said township. Bounded towards the North-west by Holyhead Street, 100 links; towards the North-east by Section No. 9 of same block, 200 links; towards the South-east by Skerrics Street, 100 links; and towards the South-west by Section No. 7 of same block, 250 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. Reserved for a Volunteer drill-shed site. For a site for a public hall.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-fifth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

Appointing Polling-places for the Electoral District of Nelson.

WHEREAS by the sixth section of “The Regulation of Elections Act, 1881,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time appoint, alter, and abolish polling-places for each electoral district within the limits thereof; and that after the issue of a writ for an election in any district, and until such election is over, no change shall be made in the polling-places appointed for such district unless such election cannot be held without some such change being made:

And whereas by warrant dated the twenty-seventh day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, the Governor appointed the Port Public Hall to be a polling-place for the Electoral District of Nelson:

And whereas the custodians of the said public hall have refused to allow it to be used as a polling-place, and it is therefore not now available for that purpose:

And whereas a writ was, on the twenty-seventh day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, issued, addressed to the Returning Officer for the said Electoral District of Nelson, commanding him to proceed to the election of a member to serve in the House of Representatives for the said district; but such election cannot be held without the appointment of a polling-place for the said electoral district in lieu of the said public hall:

Now, therefore, I, George Marsden Waterhouse, in the name and on behalf of His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, and as his duly-appointed Deputy, in pursuance of the powers contained in the said Act, do hereby abolish the aforesaid polling-place, and I do hereby appoint

Mr. Courtenay Smith’s Auction-room, the Port, Nelson, to be a polling-place for the said electoral district.

As witness the hand of the Honourable George Marsden Waterhouse, for and on behalf of His Excellency the Governor, and as his duly-appointed Deputy, this twelfth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.
