PATENT for an Invention for raising and forcing Water and other Liquids by the Action of a Jet of Steam or Air injected through a Nozzle and Receiving Cone, fitted within a Bulb or Vessel; the apparatus being applicable for raising water from a well or other source, tank, vat, or ship’s bilge, or other place to any desired distance; also for ejecting foul air from holds of ships and from mines; and called “Rainbow’s Water-raiser and Air-ejector.”

Tenders for Purchase of Steam-engine and Rock-drill.

WRITTEN tenders will be received up to the 31st December, 1884, for the purchase of a new portable steam-engine and diamond rock-drill, with bits 2 inches in diameter, 2,000 feet of rods, and all necessary gearing for working the same, to bore at any angle. Lately imported from America, at the cost of £2,160.

Gold-Mining Lease cancelled.

Wellington, 11th July, 1884.

IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor, by his Deputy, has been pleased to pronounce the undermentioned gold-mining lease cancelled, and that the ground is now open for application as if no lease of the said ground had ever been applied for:—

James McGillivray and others; Section 6, Block V., Ahaura Survey District; 4 acres 1 rood 23 perches. No. 1020.

IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of “The Mines Act, 1877,” and with the regulations made under that Act for the granting of leases for gold-mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease of Crown lands for gold-mining purposes to the applicants specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against such lease.

Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and lodged with the Warden at Ross on or before the 30th day of August, 1884.

Copy of the application made and plan annexed may be seen at the Warden’s Office at Ross.

SCHEDULE.

APPLICANTS: John Ellery and others. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: “Pinafore Quartz-Mining Company.” 16 acres 2 roods 4 perches, at Cedar Creek, in the Totara Mining District.
