THE HONOURABLE THE MINISTER FOR NATIVE AFFAIRS PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the Government work known as the portion of the Puatahi-West Coast Road shall and may be constructed on or through the parcel of land more particularly described in the Schedule hereto, and delineated in the plan marked P.W.D. 11302, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, in the said colony.
SCHEDULE.
All that road-line, of an average width of 100 links, intersecting the Puatahi Native Reserve, Hoteo Block, Tauhoa Survey District, Provincial District of Auckland, and containing approximately 13 acres 2 roods, more or less, commencing at a point on the south-eastern boundary of the Puatahi Native Reserve aforesaid distant 5150 links from the Hoteo River, and running thence in a north-westerly direction, 2500 links; thence running in a north-easterly direction through the Puatahi Native Settlement, 1100 links, to the Hoteo Bridge: be all the above areas and linkages either more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 11302, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington.

Extending Time during which it is prohibited to hunt, catch, or kill Seals.

THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS it is provided by the fifth section of “The Seals Fisheries Protection Act, 1878,” that, if he shall think it necessary for the preservation of seals to do so, the Governor may, by Order in Council, extend the time during which it is prohibited to hunt, catch, or kill seals over any term not exceeding three years, and may at any time before the expiration of any such term further extend the same:
And whereas by Order in Council dated the eighteenth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-one,
the time during which it is prohibited to hunt, catch, or kill seals was extended from the first day of November, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-one, until the first day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four:
And whereas it is expedient to further extend such time as aforesaid:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the said Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Colony of New Zealand, doth hereby extend from the first day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, to the first day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, the time during which it is prohibited to hunt, catch, or kill seals.

WHEREAS by the seventeenth section of “The Licensing Act, 1881,” it is enacted that the Governor, by Order in Council, may from time to time alter the limits of any Native licensing districts or abolish the same: And whereas it is expedient to abolish the Native Licensing District of Omataroa:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in pursuance and exercise of all powers enabling him in this behalf, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of New Zealand, doth hereby abolish, from and after the first day of June next, the said Native Licensing District of Omataroa.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred by the thirty-first section of “The Supreme Court Act, 1882,” His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, and with the concurrence of His Honour the Acting Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New Zealand, and His Honour Mr. Justice Richmond, a Judge of the said Court, doth hereby revoke, as from the thirty-first day of May next, the rule number five hundred and thirty-two in the Code of Civil Procedure printed as the Second Schedule to the said Act, and the rule number five hundred and forty-five in the Order in Council made the twenty-fifth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, and doth hereby make the following rules in lieu thereof, and doth declare that such rules shall take effect on and after the first day of June next:—

Costs, when allowed, shall be regulated and paid according to scale of costs in Table C in the Third Schedule to the said Act, but the Court may, in giving judgment or making any order, fix a sum or sums as the costs of the action or of the application, as the case may be, in full of all costs, notwithstanding that such sum be smaller than the sum named in the said table. In case of there being any doubt as to what costs should be allowed pursuant to the scale in any particular matter arising in the course of any proceeding, the Court shall in its discretion, having regard to the said scale, fix such sum for costs to be paid by any party as it may think fit.

The proper officer shall receive and take such fees as are specified in the Table D in the Schedule to this Order in Council, and wherever in the Code of Civil Procedure printed as the Second Schedule to “The Supreme Court Act, 1882,” the Table D thereto is referred to the Table D in the Schedule hereto shall be deemed to be referred to in lieu thereof.
