ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this second day of May, 1884.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

BY virtue of the powers and authorities vested in me by the twenty-fourth section of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby order and declare that the reserve made for public recreation in the Provincial District of Otago, and known as the Pukerau Recreation-ground, and described in the Schedule hereto, shall be and the same is hereby brought under the operation of and declared to be subject to the provisions of “The Public Domains Act, 1881;” and such domain shall hereafter be managed, administered, and dealt with in manner directed by the said Act.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Otago, containing by admeasurement 4 acres, more or less, situate in the Town of Pukerau, and being Sections Nos. respectively 8, 9, 10, and 11, Block V., of said town. Bounded towards the North-east by Middle Street, 1000 links; towards the South-east by Section 7 of said block, 400 links; towards the South-west by Sections Nos. 24 and 23 of said block, 1000 links; towards the North-west by Section No. 12 of said block, 400 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

Powers delegated to the Pukerau Domain Board under “The Public Domains Act, 1881.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this second day of May, 1884.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by the twelfth section of “The Public Domains Act, 1881,” it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor, by Order in Council, may from time to time delegate all or any of the powers by the said Act conferred, save as is therein mentioned, to any person or persons for any period, and subject to such stipulations as may be specified in such order, and that every such delegation may from time to time in like manner be altered or revoked: And whereas, pursuant to “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” by an Order in Council of even date herewith, the land described in the Schedule thereto is declared to be brought under the operation of and to be subject to the provisions of the said “Public Domains Act, 1881:”

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Colony of New Zealand, doth, by this present order, delegate all the powers conferred by the Act first above mentioned, except the powers under or conferred by sections five and twelve, to the under-mentioned persons, who shall be known as the Pukerau Domain Board, namely,—

PETER MCKENZIE,
JAMES MCKENZIE,
FORBES MICHIE DAWSON,
WILLIAM EADIE, and
THOMAS EDWARD GAZZARD

(herein referred to as “the Board”), subject to the stipulations hereinafter contained, that is to say,—

  1. The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on the first Friday in each month, at half-past seven o’clock p.m., at the Athenæum Hall, Pukerau, or at such other time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board. The first meeting shall be held on Friday, the thirteenth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

  2. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman, or by any two members of the Board, provided that two days notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting, and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.

  3. Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

  4. The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting, and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the first Friday in March in every succeeding year thereafter, elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of his successor.

  5. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose some one of their number to be Chairman of such meeting.

  6. If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise, the office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the members may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a Chairman.

  7. All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

Altering the Price of Land for Sale for Cash and upon Deferred Payments.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this second day of May, 1884.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by the twenty-first section of “The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1879,” it is enacted that the Governor in Council may fix the terms and conditions upon which the lands comprised in any village settlement shall be disposed of and the mode of payment for the same: And whereas by an Order in Council issued on the thirteenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, it was directed that the lands enumerated in the Schedules thereto should be disposed of for cash and upon deferred payments, at the prices of one pound ten shillings and two pounds per acre respectively: And whereas it is expedient to alter the prices at which the said land shall be disposed of:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the hereinbefore in part recited Act, and by and with the advice of the Executive Council of the Colony of New Zealand, doth hereby fix the prices at which the lands enumerated in the Schedules to the aforesaid Order in Council shall be disposed of to be at the rate of two pounds ten shillings per acre for the lands which are to be disposed of for cash, and at the rate of three pounds per acre for the lands which are to be disposed of on deferred payments.

Fixing Fees to be taken under the Licensing Act.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this fifteenth day of April, 1884.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section one hundred and ten of “The Licensing Act, 1881,” it is enacted that the fees mentioned in the Tenth Schedule thereto, or such other fees as the Governor in Council shall from time to time prescribe, shall and may be taken from every person making any application for a license, or a renewal, transfer, or removal thereof under the said Act, or otherwise in respect of any matter in such Schedule mentioned:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities aforesaid, doth hereby, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Colony of New Zealand, order, prescribe, and declare that, on and from the first day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, the fees heretofore fixed to be taken and paid under “The Licensing Act, 1881,” and Acts amending the same, shall be abolished, and in lieu thereof the fees specified in the Schedule hereto shall be the fees to be taken and paid in respect of the several proceedings, matters, and things under the aforesaid Acts mentioned and set forth in the said Schedule.
