Altering Fees under “The Resident Magistrates Evidence Act, 1870.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this tenth day of April, 1884.

THE HONOURABLE THE MINISTER OF LANDS PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS it is enacted by “The Financial Arrangements Act, 1878,” that it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council from time to time to abolish or alter the fees to be paid under “The Resident Magistrates Evidence Act, 1870,” or any of them, and to fix others in lieu thereof, and the fees so fixed shall be published in the New Zealand Gazette, and on and after a day to be named therein shall be deemed to be the fees to be paid under the said Act:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him as aforesaid, doth hereby, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Colony of New Zealand, abolish the fees prescribed to be taken under “The Resident Magistrates Evidence Act, 1870,” and doth with the like advice and consent fix that, from and after the first day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, the fees specified in the Schedule hereto shall be the fees to be taken and paid in respect of the several proceedings, matters, and things under the said Act mentioned and set forth in the said Schedule.

In the matter of a Bill to be entitled “An Act to confer certain Powers on the Corporation of the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Dunedin.”
NOTICE is hereby given that application is intended to be made to the General Assembly of New Zealand, at the ensuing session thereof, for leave to bring in a Bill to be entitled “An Act to confer certain Powers on the Corporation of the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Dunedin.” The objects of such Bill will be—
(1.) To empower the said Corporation to assimilate and consolidate the rents payable under leases granted by the said Corporation, and the terms or periods for which such leases have to run, and also the covenants and conditions of such leases, and for such purposes to accept surrenders of existing leases and grant a new lease or new leases in lieu thereof at and for the assimilated or consolidated rent or term, and upon the assimilated covenants and conditions;
(2.) To empower the said Corporation in granting leases to provide for the renewal, from time to time, by way of new lease, of all or any such leases, on such conditions as the Corporation may determine, or for payment by the incoming tenant, or otherwise, of the value of the buildings or other improvements upon land so leased.
Copies of the said Bill will be deposited in the Examiner’s Office within fourteen days after the commencement of the said session.

In the matter of a Bill intituled “An Act empowering the New Zealand Shipping Company (Limited) to alter its Memorandum of Association.”
NOTICE is hereby given that the New Zealand Shipping Company (Limited) intend to present a petition to the General Assembly of New Zealand, at the sitting to be held at Wellington in the month of June next, praying for leave to introduce a Bill to be intituled “An Act to empower the New Zealand Shipping Company (Limited) to alter its Memorandum of Association.”
By the said Bill it is intended to empower the said company, by special resolution, to alter the memorandum of association of the said company, and to extend the power thereby given to the said company of borrowing and raising money to the borrowing and raising of money on the uncalled capital of the company, whether by means of debentures or otherwise.
Copies of the said Bill will be deposited in the office of the Examiner of Standing Orders on or before the commencement of the session.
Copies of the said Bill may be had upon application to the undersigned or to their Agents in Wellington.
