Land taken for a Drain in Selwyn County, Provincial District of Canterbury.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken, under “The Public Works Act, 1882,” for a certain work, to wit, for the purposes of a drain in the Selwyn County, Provincial District of Canterbury:

And whereas the Selwyn County Council has laid before the Governor the memorial, accompanied by a map, and also the statutory declaration, as required by the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by section eleven of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of a drain; and that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the land so described shall become absolutely vested in fee-simple in Her Majesty, discharged from all mortgages, charges, claims, estates, or interests of what kind soever, for drainage purposes.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 30 perches, being portion of Section No. 1202, commencing at a point on the western boundary of said section 818 links distant southerly from the north-western corner thereof. Bounded as follows: North-westerly by said boundary, 25 links; South-westerly by lines, 749 and 20 links respectively; South-easterly by a line, 23 links; North-easterly by a line to commencing point, 744 links.

All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 35 perches, being portion of Sections Nos. 1660 and 2437, commencing at a point on the northern boundary of Section No. 1660 aforesaid 530 links distant from the north-western corner thereof. Bounded as follows: Northerly by lines, 18 and 20 links respectively; North-easterly by a line, 875 links; South-easterly by a line, 25 links; South-westerly by a line to commencing point, 909 links.

Be all the above areas and linkages either more or less; the several parcels of land being situate in the Christchurch and Halswell Districts, Provincial District of Canterbury, and are more particularly delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 11288, attached to the memorial aforesaid.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Auckland, this seventh day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken, under “The Public Works Act, 1882,” for use of certain works which have already been executed, namely, the Invercargill Station on the Waitaki-Bluff and Invercargill-Kingston Railways:

And whereas the Minister for Public Works has laid before the Governor a memorial and map, signed and certified as required by the said Act, containing an accurate description of the said land:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of any other power and authority enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the Invercargill Station, being part of Waitaki-Bluff and Invercargill-Kingston Railways; and that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the land so
