Notice of Intention to change the Purpose of a Portion of a Reserve.

WHEREAS by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” it is, amongst other things, enacted that the Governor may declare his intention to make, change, exchange, or alter the dedication of any public reserve now or hereafter vested in Her Majesty or the Governor for any of the purposes named in Class II. of the Schedule to the said Act, whether the same be granted or not; and, in the case of any reserves made under the authority of section one hundred and forty-four of “The Land Act, 1877,” if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to change the purpose of such reserves or any part thereof from the purpose or presumed purpose for which it was set apart to any other purpose, or if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to exchange any of the land comprised in such reserve for other land of equal value, to be dedicated to one or more purposes named in the said Class II., the Governor may, by notice in the Gazette, declare his intention to make such change, exchange, or dedication, as the case may be, and in such notice declare the manner and terms in which the same is intended to be so made:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” aforesaid, declare my intention to change the specific purpose of a portion of the reserve described in the first column of the Schedule hereto, the area of which is described in the second column of the said Schedule, to the specific purpose set opposite such description in the third column of the said Schedule.


SCHEDULE.

Description and Purpose of Original Reserve. Portion of which the Purpose is intended to be changed. Intended Purpose.
Reserve No. 869 (in red): All that tract of land, 40 chains wide, commencing at the western end of Reserve No. 868 (in red); thence following along the southern shore of Lake Sumner and the slopes of the hills on the south side of the Hurunui Valley to the summit of the dividing range, a distance of about twenty-two miles. For railway purposes. All that parcel of land in the Katrine Survey District, Provincial District of Canterbury, containing 100 acres, more or less, being part of Reserve No. 869 (in red). Bounded—Northward by by the Hurunui River, about 3500 links; Westward by a true north and south line, 2850 links; Southward by a true east and west line, 3500 links; and Eastward by a line parallel to the western boundary, 2870 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; and numbered 2629 (in red) on the official map in the Survey Office, Christchurch. Recreation and Thermal Springs Reserve.

Fixing Shooting Season for Native and Imported Game, License Fee, &c., South Canterbury District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and “The Animals Protection Act Amendment Act, 1881,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that cock-pheasants and Californian quail may be taken or killed within the South Canterbury District, consisting of the Counties of Geraldine and Waimate, from the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, both inclusive (subject nevertheless to the restrictions in the said Acts mentioned). And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said district shall be issued on payment of the sum of one pound each, and that licenses to sell such game shall be issued on payment of the sum of five pounds each; and the Postmaster at Timaru is hereby appointed to issue the said licenses. And I do further notify that native game (excepting tuis) may be taken or killed in the said district from the first day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the forty-fifth section of “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint the local authority specified in the first column of the Schedule hereto to have the control and management of the public cemeteries specified in the second column of the said Schedule.

The Mayor, Councillors, & Burgesses of the Borough of Hamilton. HAMILTON EAST AND WEST CEMETERIES.

All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Auckland, containing by admeasurement 38 acres 2 roods, more or less, and known as Section No. 252 of the Parish of Kirikiri roa. Bounded towards the North-east by Section No. 251 of the Parish of Kirikiri roa 1023 links, the termination of a road 100 links, and by Section No. 254 of the said parish 730 links; towards the South-east by the Waikato River; towards the South-west by Section No. 252A of the Parish of Kirikiri roa aforesaid, 1320 links; and towards the North-west by the Town Belt of Hamilton East, 2950 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Auckland, containing by admeasurement 2 acres, more or less, and known as Allotments Nos. 213 and 214 of Hamilton West. Bounded towards the North-east by Willoughby Street, 366 links; towards the South-east by Allotment No. 215, 549 links; towards the South-west by the Town Belt, 366 links; and towards the North-west by Cook Street, 549 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. |
