land described in the Schedule hereto is set apart for sale on
deferred payments; and that Wednesday, the twenty-first
day of May, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four,
shall be the day on which the said land shall be open for
application, in allotments as surveyed and marked in the
principal land office of the district.
And, further, in pursuance of the fifth section of “The
Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1879,” I do hereby fix the
price at which the land so described shall be sold to be the
price set opposite each allotment in the Schedule hereto.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the fifty-third section of “The Land Act,
1877,” it is enacted that the Governor, by Proclama-
tion in the Gazette, may from time to time set apart out of
any suburban or rural lands such blocks or allotments of
land as he shall think fit, and set the same aside for sale on
deferred payments, and in such Proclamation may fix a day
on which the land shall be open for application; and that he
may also in like manner set apart for sale on deferred pay-
ments such blocks or allotments as may be recommended by
any Land Board, and may also from time to time alter,
amend, or revoke any such Proclamation:
And whereas the land specified in the Schedule hereto
was, with other lands, by Proclamation dated the tenth day
of June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight, pro-
claimed as set apart for sale on deferred payments:
And whereas the Land Board of Southland did, on the
sixth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
four, pass a resolution recommending that the said land
should be withdrawn from the deferred-payment system:
And whereas it is expedient to give effect to the aforesaid
recommendation:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the
above-named Act, do hereby revoke the Proclamation above
referred to, so far as it relates to the section therein men-
tioned, and included in the Schedule hereto, and do proclaim
and declare that the said section is hereby withdrawn from
the operation of the deferred-payment system,

BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in him by the fifty-third section of “The Land
Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1882,” and of every other power
and authority enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, and at the request of the School Commissioners for
the Hawke's Bay Provincial District, in whom the land
herein described is vested, doth hereby declare that the block
of land mentioned in the Schedule hereto, which has been
reserved for educational purposes, shall be sold subject to the
provisions of “The Land Act, 1877.”
