At the Government House, at Wellington, this twentieth day of November, 1883.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the Government work known as the Wellington-Napier Railway shall and may be constructed on or through the parcel of land more particularly described in the Schedule hereto, and delineated in the plan marked P.W.D. 10863, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, in the said colony.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 10 acres 1 rood 20 perches, more or less, situate in the Provincial District of Wellington, being portion of the Mangatainoka Block No. 1B, in the Makuri Survey District, commencing at a point on the bank of the Manawatu River. Bounded as follows: North-easterly by said river, 360 links; South-easterly by a line, 1126 links; Easterly by a line, 428 links; South-easterly by a line, 257 links; South-westerly by a line, 445 and 50 links respectively; South-easterly by a line, 1600 links; South-westerly by a line, 300 links; North-westerly by a line to commencing point, 3043 links: as the same is delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 10863, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington.

THE following extracts from regulations respecting the introduction of cattle into the Colony of Victoria are published for general information.
THOMAS DICK.
REGULATIONS UNDER “THE DISEASES IN STOCK ACT, 1872.”
At the Executive Council Chamber, Melbourne, the nineteenth day of March, 1880.
Present: His Excellency the Governor, Mr. Service, Mr. Kerferd, Mr. Ramsay, Mr. Gillies, Mr. Cuthbert, Mr. Duffy, Mr. Bent.
WHEREAS by “The Diseases in Stock Act, 1872,” among other things the Governor in Council is empowered from time to time to make orders and regulations for the purposes therein mentioned, and to rescind the same: And whereas from time to time the Governor in Council has made divers orders and regulations under the powers conferred by the said Act, all of which, except certain orders and regulations bearing date the 7th July, 1879, have been since rescinded: And whereas it is desirable to amend such last-mentioned orders and regulations: Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by and with the advice of the Executive Council, doth hereby, in exercise of the powers conferred by the above recited Act, and of every other power enabling him in that behalf, order as follows, that is to say,—

Rescission of previous Regulations.—The regulations of the Governor in Council expressed to be made under the powers conferred by “The Diseases in Stock Act, 1872,” and of other powers enabling him in that behalf of the date mentioned in the First Schedule hereto, shall be and the same are hereby rescinded, except as to acts, matters, and things made, done, or commenced thereunder, and as to stock arrived by sea but not released from quarantine.

What to be deemed Infectious or Contagious Diseases and Diseased Stock.—The diseases mentioned in the Second Schedule hereto are hereby declared to be contagious or infectious diseases, and all stock affected with any of such diseases, and all stock arriving by sea from any place other than the Australasian Colonies or New Zealand, until such last-mentioned stock have passed through and been released from quarantine, are hereby proclaimed to be diseased stock.

Interpretation of Terms.—In construing these regulations the following words, if not inconsistent with the context, shall have the meanings hereby respectively assigned to them, that is to say,—
“Cattle” shall include any bull, cow, ox, calf, or buffalo:
“Horse” shall include any stallion, mare, gelding, or foal;
