NOTICE is hereby given that Messrs. SMITH AND SMITH,
of the Octagon, Dunedin, in the Colony of New
Zealand, Oil and Colourmen, have applied to register, under
"The Trade Marks Act, 1866," the trade mark of which
the following is a description, viz.:
Description of Trade Mark.
The following words when used as an advertisement in any
newspaper or on a circular or label of any size or colour:
"Compound Oxide and Minium Paint, for corrugated iron
roofs, drays, wagons, fencing, sheep-marking, and all wood
or ironwork which requires a lasting and weather-resisting
paint."

Colonial Secretary, Brisbane, is published for general
information.

FLOATING BEACON AND PERCH BUOY OFF THE EAST BANKS,
AT THE ENTRANCE TO MORETON BAY.
NOTICE is hereby given that the temporary perch buoy off
the north end of the East Banks has been replaced by the
floating beacon, the perch buoy being placed as an additional
buoy in 21 feet at low water half a cable northward from the
extremity of the western spit of the East Banks, and in line
with that spit and Cowan Cowan Point Lighthouse.
This spit, extending from the northern part of the East
Banks, has grown upwards of 1½ cables to the westward since
the last corrections of the Admiralty chart in 1880.
The floating beacon carries a ball, 7 feet in diameter,
27 feet above the water.

WRITTEN TENDERS will be received at this office up
to noon on 31st March, 1884, from persons who are
willing to contract for the supply and delivery of one hundred
tons of Portland Cement. The cement to be manufactured
in the Colony of New Zealand, and to be delivered at any of
the under-mentioned places, viz., Auckland, Wellington,
Christchurch, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Port Chalmers, or Inver-
cargill. Tenders to be addressed to the Minister for Public
Works, and to be marked outside "Tender for Supply of 100
tons of Portland Cement." Specifications and conditions
may be seen at the Public Works Offices, Auckland, Welling-
ton, Christchurch, Dunedin, and Invercargill. The lowest or
any tender will not necessarily be accepted.

Notice of Intention to take Land for a Road in the Parish
of Waiwera, Provincial District of Auckland.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the
provisions of "The Public Works Act, 1882," to
execute a certain public work, to wit, the construction of a
road in the Parish of Waiwera, in the Provincial District of
Auckland, and for the purposes of such public work the lands
described in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken;
and notice is further given that a copy of the plan of the said
road, and of the lands so required to be taken, are deposited
in the Post Office, Whangaparaoa, and is there open for in-
spection; and notice is hereby given that all persons
affected by the execution of the said public work or by the
taking of the said lands shall, if they have any well-grounded
objections to the execution of the said public work or to the
taking of such lands, set forth the same in writing, and send
such writing, within forty days from the second day of April
next, to the Minister for Public Works, Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land, containing by admeasurement 3
roods 38 perches, being a road-line 100 links wide traversing
the north-western portion of Lot No. 161, commencing at a
point on the western boundary of the said Lot No. 161 at a
distance of 514 links from its north-western angle. Bounded—
North-westerly by lines, 192, 338, 75, 266, and 60 links re-
spectively; North-easterly by the Orewa River, 100 links;
South-easterly by lines, 95, 273, 40, 362, and 270 links respec-
tively; Westerly by a line, 114 links, to the commencing
point: the said parcel of land being situate in the Parish of
Waiwera, Whangaparaoa Road District, Provincial District
of Auckland, and being more particularly delineated upon
the plan marked P.W.D. 11287A, deposited in the office of
the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Pro-
vincial District of Wellington.
Given under my hand this twenty-sixth day of March,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.
