Nelson South-West Gold Fields.—Gold-Mining Lease refused.

Nelson, 17th March, 1884.

NOTICE is hereby given that the gold-mining lease applied for by Thomas Hunter, for the Rising Star Gold-Mining Company, dated the 5th December, 1882, 16½ acres, at Big River, Inangahua, has been refused; and the ground is now open to persons holding miners’ rights or business licenses as if a lease of the said ground had not been applied for.

Gold-Mining Lease to be granted.

IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of “The Mines Act, 1877,” and with the regulations made under that Act for the granting of leases for gold-mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease of Crown lands for gold-mining purposes to the applicants specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against such lease.
Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and lodged with the Warden at Reefton on or before the 3rd day of April, 1884.
Copy of the application made and plan annexed may be seen at the Warden’s Office at Reefton.

SCHEDULE.

APPLICANTS: R. W. Raithby and Thomas Rooney. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: “Golden Crown Gold-Mining Company.” 16½ acres, south of and adjoining the Golden Arch Gold-Mining Company, Italian Gully, Inangahua, in the Nelson South-West Mining District.
Given under my hand, at Nelson, this seventeenth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

Sale of Crown Lands on Deferred Payments in the Woodville and Tahoraite Districts.

IT is hereby notified that the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereunder have been set apart for sale on deferred payments, and that Tuesday, the 15th day of April next, has been fixed as the day on which such lands shall be open for application at this office.

In the event of more than one application being received for any one section the right to occupy the same will be decided by auction, between the applicants only, at 10 o’clock in the forenoon of Wednesday, the 16th day of April next, at this office.

Description.—Block XIV., Tahoraite Survey District: These lands are situated about eleven miles from Woodville, or two miles from the Village of Kumeroa. The Napier-Wellington Railway will pass within five miles of Block XIV. The terminus of the railway, when it reaches Tahoraite, will be eight miles from Kumeroa. The main roads through the block have been, or are now being, cleared of bush, and formed for dray- and horse-traffic. The whole of the block is lightly timbered, and contains some good agricultural and pastoral forest country. The soil is of a rich description, overlying a marl and limestone formation.
