To the Mining Registrar at Ahaura of the Nelson South-West Gold Fields District, and all other persons whom it may concern.

TAKE notice that it is intended to use a Water-race, constructed by us, held under Certificate No. 28661, and divert water for irrigation purposes, commencing in Callaghan’s Creek, at the junction of our branch race, registered under Certificate 8933, with our said race, No. 28661, and terminating at a point in Callaghan’s Creek known as the Bluff. The length of such race so to be used for irrigation purposes is 600 yards or thereabouts, and its intended course is north-westerly. The mean depth of such race is 2 feet, and the mean breadth 2 feet, and it is proposed to divert four Government-heads of water from our registered race, No. 28661, at the aforesaid point of intersection of the said race with our branch race, No. 8933. Estimated cost, £12. Estimated time to construct, one month. The time for which this license is required is fifteen years.

Name and address in full of applicant: Albert Parsons, farmer, Rangiora, and others. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: Venture Quartz-Mining Company. Extent of land applied for: 16½ acres. Minimum number of men to be employed by the lessee: (1) For the first six months, two men; (2) subsequently, when in full work, eight men. Amount of capital proposed to be invested: £20,000. Proposed mode of working the land: Tunnels and shafts. Precise locality: Moa Creek, south-west of North Creek, Wilberforce District. Term for which lease required: Fifteen years. Time of commencing operations: Immediately on granting lease. The above application and any objection thereto will be heard at the Land Office, Christchurch, on Thursday, the 21st February, 1884. I, the undersigned, hereby make application to register the Mariebel Gold-Mining Company as a Limited Company, under the provisions of “The Mining Companies Act, 1872,” and Amendment Act, 1883.

  1. The name of the company is to be the Mariebel Gold-Mining Company (Limited).

  2. The place of operations is at Coromandel, in the Provincial District of Auckland, in the Colony of New Zealand.

  3. The registered office of the company will be situated at the New Zealand Insurance Company’s Buildings, Auckland, in the Provincial District of Auckland and Colony of New Zealand.

  4. The nominal capital of the company is thirty thousand pounds sterling, in thirty thousand shares of one pound sterling each.

  5. The number of shares subscribed for is twenty-two thousand, being more than two-thirds the entire number of shares in the company.

  6. The number of shares paid up is four hundred.

  7. The amount already paid up is four hundred pounds.

  8. The name of the Manager is Dennis Gilmore MacDonnell.
