Notice of times and places for investigating claims.

Auckland, 10th January, 1884.

WHEREAS His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand, in exercise of the power and authority in that behalf vested in him by the provisions of "The Special Powers and Contracts Act, 1883," did, by writing under his hand dated the 25th day of September, 1883, declare that certain parcels of land therein mentioned should be thereafter deemed and taken to be lands held by the Native owners, according to Native customs or usages, and that it should be a duty of the Native Land Court of New Zealand to investigate according and subject to its ordinary practice the titles to such lands, and to ascertain who may be the owners thereof according to Native customs or usages.

And whereas the parcel of land situate near Maketu, in the district of the Bay of Plenty, known as Paengaroa Block; and another parcel of land near Maketu, in the district of the Bay of Plenty, called Rauotehuia; and another parcel of land near Maketu, in the district of the Bay of Plenty, called Pukehina, are three of the parcels of land the subject of the declaration aforesaid.

Now notice is hereby given that, at a sitting of the Native Land Court, to be held at Maketu, Bay of Plenty, on the 7th day of February, 1884, the said Court will proceed to investigate and determine the respective titles to the said three parcels of land.

1 Wiremu, Paora, Aporo Te Kura, Utiku, Tamihana, Ngarewha, Henare, Rota Mohi Kupe, and Hamiora Paengaroa near Maketu Commences at Te Papahikahawhai and continues on to Kaituna, Te ——; thence to Hamutiwai, Pakotore, Ohoutira, Pukemotiti, Mamuhaeau, Te Huia, Te Hiapo, Te Whaiwhakareto, Kaikokopu, Whaihi and Motunau.
2 Hamiora Te Tumu, Henare Raihe, Paora Paruhi, Utiku Te Tuhi, Wiremu Hapimana, Wiremu Nera, Manahi Matene, Wikiriwhi Te Tuahu, and Toi Paengaroa near Maketu Commences at Te Waiwhakareto, and goes on to Waewaehuruhuru and Te Waiwhariki, then goes to the Awarua which it follows to Kaituna, continuing on to Te Kopua; thence inland to Karikari and Patuiwi-o-Tumatawhera, goes to the coast to Te Karaka, Te Poroa, Te Tumu, Te Waiuru and Te Haiha, crosses over to Te Kakaho, Waitepuia, Te Hi, Karaka and Kawa, goes to Te Taua boundary, continues on to Te Pohue, follows along the Kaikokopu as far as the mouth of Te Rewarewa and Te Waiwhakareto, where it ends.
