Cancelling Crown Grant, and validating Orders of Partition
made by the Native Land Court, of the Pakiri Block.

WHEREAS by the second section of "The Special
Powers and Contracts Act, 1884," it is enacted that
the Governor may do, execute, and perform the several acts,
deeds, matters, and things specified in the second column of
the Schedule thereto:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the
above-named Act, do hereby cancel the Crown grant of the
Pakiri Block, dated the sixth day of July, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy, and do hereby further direct and
authorize the orders of partition defining the respective
interests of the grantees in the said block, as made at a sitting
of the Native Land Court, held at Helensville, on the seven-
teenth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty,
to be given effect to in the same manner as if the provisions
of sections eighty-nine and ninety of "The Native Land Act,
1873," had thereupon been fully complied with.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this seventeenth day of November, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-four.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in me by the sixth section of "The Cemeteries
Act, 1882," I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint
the several persons whose names are specified in the first
column of the Schedule hereto to be Trustees to provide for
the maintenance and care of the public cemetery specified in
the second column of the said Schedule.

NOTICE is hereby given that EDWARD WATERS, Patent
Agent, of Melbourne, in the Colony of Victoria, has
applied, on behalf of HOLMES SAMUEL CHIPMAN, of No. 54,
Margaret Street, Sydney, in the Colony of New South Wales,
Merchant, to register, under "The Trade Marks Act, 1866,"
the trade mark of which the following is a description,
viz.:—
Description of Trade Mark.
A trade mark the most prominent feature of which is the
word "Carpenter" upon a horizontal band, said band having
a semicircular stave of music above and another below it.
Beneath the upper stave is the word "The," and above the
lower one are the words "Organ Action," the whole being
enclosed within concentric circles, above which are the words
"What the works are to a watch," and below which are the
words "The action is to an organ."
Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade
Mark shall apply.
