Bank, Melbourne, Victoria, Engineer, have deposited at this office a specification of the said invention and I have appointed Tuesday, the 10th day of February next, at 11 o’clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the said application and all objections thereto; and I require all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of such Letters Patent, to leave, on or before the 26th day of January next, at this office, particulars in writing of their objections to the said application, otherwise they will be precluded from urging the same.

Special Registration of Unregistered Births permitted by Registration Extension Act, 1882.

THE attention of the public is drawn to the opportunity afforded, for a limited time—i.e., twelve months from the 18th October last—to persons or the parents of persons whose births cannot now be registered under “The Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1875,” to effect a special registration by application to the Registrar-General.

By “The Registration of Births Extension Act, 1884,” the provisions of the second section of “The Registration of Births Act Amendment Act, 1882,” are re-enacted, and extend and apply to the later Act, which passed on the 18th October, 1884.

They are as follow:—

“It shall be lawful for the Registrar-General to register the birth of any child born in the colony previous to the period of twelve months before the date of the passing of this Act, but whose birth has not previously been registered: Provided—

“(a.) That satisfactory evidence on oath, and such other proof as he may deem necessary of the fact, place, and time of birth, and of the particulars of the parents, shall be sent to the Registrar-General within twelve months from the date of the coming into operation of this Act;

“(b.) That, on application to have such birth registered, a fee of one pound shall be paid to the Registrar-General.

“The particulars of the birth and of the nature of the evidence produced shall be entered by the Registrar-General in a separate book, which shall be kept by him for that purpose; the form in which the particulars are to be registered shall be prescribed by the Registrar-General.”

Tenders for Purchase of Steam-engine and Rock-drill.

WRITTEN tenders will be received up to the 31st December, 1884, for the purchase of a new portable steam-engine and diamond rock-drill, with bits 2 inches in diameter, 2,000 feet of rods, and all necessary gearing for working the same, to bore at any angle. Lately imported from America, at the cost of £2,160.

On Wednesday, the 17th December next, applications will be received at the Land Office, Christchurch, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., for the under-mentioned lands, open for application on deferred payments.

Applicants for any of the above lands may also send their applications and deposits, with statutory declaration as required by “The Land Act, 1877,” through the post to the Lands Office, Christchurch, to arrive on or before Wednesday, the 17th December, 1884. Should two or more persons apply for the same section, it will be put up to auction (between the applicants only), at the Crown Lands Office, Christchurch, on Thursday, the 18th December, at 10.30 a.m.

Sale of Lease by Public Auction.

IT is hereby notified that Section No. 32, Block III., Waimate Survey District, a reserve not required for immediate use, containing 90 acres and 20 perches, and situate near the Town of Manaia, will be offered for lease by public auction, for a term of fourteen years, at the upset rental of 10s. an acre, at the Land Office, Hawera, on Wednesday, the 3rd December next, at 10.30 a.m.

No compensation will be allowed for improvements at the end of the term.
