Altering Boundaries of Counties of Selwyn and Akaroa.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers vested in me by section seven of “The Counties Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1882,” and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in that behalf, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby proclaim and declare that from and after the first day of November, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, all that portion of land mentioned and described in the First Schedule hereto shall be added to the County of Selwyn, and that from and after the said date the boundaries of the said County of Selwyn shall be those set forth in the Second Schedule hereto; and that from the date aforesaid the boundaries of the County of Akaroa shall be those set forth in the Third Schedule hereto respectively.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
AREA TO BE TAKEN FROM THE COUNTY OF AKAROA, AND ADDED TO THE COUNTY OF SELWYN.
THE Road District of Taitapu, as described in New Zealand Gazette for 1884, page 1208.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
COUNTY OF SELWYN.
Bounded towards the North-east, South-east, and North by Ashley County, from the saddle near the source of the Hurunui River to the mouth of the Waimakariri River; towards the East by the ocean to Lyttelton Harbour; towards the South by that harbour to the Borough of Lyttelton; thence towards the West, again towards the South, and towards the South-east by that borough to its north-western boundary; thence by a line due north to the summit of the Port Hills; thence towards the South-east and East generally by a line along the summit of the Port Hills to the south-east corner of Section No. 1093, by Sections Nos. 3585 and 32581, the Ahuriri Bush Road South, and Section No. 1879 to the River Halswell, and by a line along the middle of that river to Lake Ellesmere; thence again towards the South-east by a right line to the ocean at Taumutu; thence by the ocean to the mouth of the Rakaia River; thence towards the South-west and again towards the South by a line along the middle of that river to its source near Whitcombe’s Pass; thence by a right line due west to the Southern Alps; and towards the North-west by the summit of the Southern Alps to the place of commencement.
THIRD SCHEDULE.
COUNTY OF AKAROA.
Bounded towards the North-east and South by Lyttelton Harbour and the ocean; and towards the West by the County of Selwyn, hereinbefore described.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-first day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

Extending Time for holding Elections in Counties of Ashburton, Waikouaiti, and Waihemo.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-first day of October, 1884.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance of the powers vested in him by the two hundred and eleventh section of “The Counties Act, 1876,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby extend the time appointed for holding the elections, for the ensuing three years, of the Councils of the counties mentioned in the Schedule hereto, from the second Wednesday in November next to the dates set opposite the name of each county respectively.
