SIR,—I have the honour to inform you that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of South Invercargill was taken on Monday, the 6th October, 1884, on a proposal to borrow the sum of £4,000 for works in the borough, which resulted as follows:—

Total number of burgesses on the roll .. 346
Leaving a majority in favour of the proposal .. 23
The proposal was therefore duly declared carried.

SIR,—I have the honour to inform you that Her Majesty will not be advised to exercise her power of disallowance with respect to the Act of the Legislature of New Zealand intituled "An Act to extend the Provisions of 'The Public Revenues Act, 1882,' for the Appropriation of the Public Moneys until the Thirty-first Day of August, One thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, and to make further Provision for the Public Service until the said Day," a transcript of which accompanied your Despatch No. 45, of the 2nd ultimo.
