A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is vested in a certain aboriginal native of New Zealand, subject to certain restrictions on the alienation of such land, and application has been made for the removal of such restrictions:

It is hereby notified that it is the intention of His Excellency the Governor, immediately after the expiration of sixty days from the publication of this notice in the Gazette and in the Kahiti, to remove the said restrictions on the alienation of the said land.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this seventh day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-fifth day of September, 1884.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the Government work known as the Wellington-Napier Railway shall and may be constructed on or through the parcel of land more particularly described in the Schedule hereto, and delineated in the plan marked P.W.D. 11482, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 3 acres and 4 perches, being part of Section No. 20, Hutt District (Block VIII., Belmont Survey District), comprising parts of Subdivisions Nos. 6, 7, and 8 of that section, known as Te Momi West; commencing at the junction of the Hutt Main Road with the northernmost boundary of Section No. 20. Bounded—Generally South-easterly by the main road 843 links, and by lines 175 and 172 links respectively; Southerly by a line, 228 links; North-westerly by the railway-line, 111, 6, 500, 6, and 434 links respectively; Northerly by Section No. 24, 341 links, to the commencing point.

Also all that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 1 rood 33 perches, being part of Section No. 20, Hutt District (Block VIII., Belmont Survey District), comprising parts of Subdivisions Nos. 6, 7, and 8 of that section, known as Te Momi West; commencing at a point on the northern-most boundary of Section No. 20 distant 2584 links from the north-west corner thereof. Bounded—Northerly by Section No. 24, 51 links; South-easterly by the railway-line, 375, 6, 500, 6, and 170 links respectively; Southerly by a line, 59 links; and North-westerly by a line, 1047 links, to the commencing point: be all the above areas and linkages either more or less; the several parcels of land being situate in the Provincial District of Wellington, and are more particularly delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 11482, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington.

Order to take Land for Portion of a Road in the Auckland Provincial District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this thirtieth day of September, 1884.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in me by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of all other powers enabling me in that behalf, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, order that a road known as the Whangarei-Taheke Road, and described in the Schedule hereto, shall be constructed on or through land held or occupied by Native owners in the Whangarei Survey District.


SCHEDULE.

ALL those parcels of land in the Provincial District of Auckland situate in the Whangarei Survey District, and being Native lands at present unadjudicated upon:—

First Portion: Commencing at the place of intersection of the eastern boundary of the Kopuatoetoe Block by the Ngunguru River. Bounded towards the North by the Ngunguru River from the place above named to the Whakapai Block; towards the East by the Whakapai Block aforesaid to the Waitangi River; towards the South generally by the Waitangi River to the eastern boundary of the Pukepoto Block; and towards the North-west generally by the Pukepoto and Kopuatoetoe Blocks to the commencing point.

Second Portion: Commencing at the road intersection of the south-western boundary of the Waikariri Block. Bounded towards the North generally by the Waikariri and Horahora No. 1 Block; towards the North-east by the Horahora No. 1 Block aforesaid; towards the South generally by the Horahora River to a point opposite to the river termination of the line forming the northern boundary of the Kakahoroa Block; thence crossing the Horahora River to northern boundary-line of the Kakahoroa Block aforesaid, and by the Kakahoroa and Mangahui Blocks to the Tahike Block; and towards the North-west generally by a line crossing the Horahora River aforesaid to the southernmost angle of the Whakapai Block, and by the south-eastern and part of the north-eastern boundaries of that block to the commencing point.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this seventh day of October, 1884.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by “The Salmon and Trout Act, 1867,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that salmon, young salmon, salmon fry, trout, young trout, and trout fry, together with all other salmonidæ and whitefish which have been introduced into the said Colony of New Zealand, shall be and are hereby protected: subject, however, to the operation of such open seasons for fishing for and taking such fish as the Governor may from time to time declare by regulations to be made under the said Act or any amendment thereof.
