NOTICE is hereby given that A. W. DE VEAUX, of Christchurch, in the Colony of New Zealand, Patent *gent, has applied, on behalf of THOMAS DANKS, of Christchurch aforesaid, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of which the following is a description, viz.:

Description of Trade Mark.

The word “Economiser” and all derivatives of “economy.”

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.

Gas-fittings and gas-burners.

NOTICE is hereby given that EDWARD WATERS, Patent Agent, of Melbourne, in the Colony of Victoria, has applied, on behalf of the CHARLES A. VOGELER COMPANY, of Baltimore, in the United States of America, Patent Medicine Manufacturers, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of which the following is a description, viz.:

Description of Trade Mark.

A label, in the upper portion of which are the words “St. Jacobs Oel,” and a landscape, beneath which are the words “Aus Schwarzwälder Fichtenradeln gewonnen.” About the centre of the label are the words “St. Jamb’s Oil: the Great German Remedy for the cure of Pain.” Above these words is a blank space intended for the reception of printed matter, in the German language, relating to the medicinal preparation in respect of which the mark is to be applied. In the lower right-hand corner is the fac-simile signature “The Charles A. Vogeler Co.,” and above and on the left of this is a blank space for the reception of other printed matter, in the English language, also relating to the medicinal preparation in respect of which the mark is to be applied. The whole is enclosed within a n ornamental border, the two sides of which each bear the words “St. Jacob’s Oil.”

Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.

NOTICE is hereby given that THOMAS WALTER STRINGER, of Hereford Street, Christchurch, in the Colony of New Zealand, Solicitor, has applied, on behalf of HORATIO DUMVILLE NELSON, ROBERT MOATE, and GEORGE HENRY GREENWOOD, trading together at Christchurch aforesaid and elsewhere in the said colony as Wholesale and Retail Tea Merchants, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of which the following is a description, viz.:

Description of Trade Mark.

The representation of a Chinese pagoda, combined with the words “Nelson, Moate, & Co.’s pure blended teas.”

Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.

SIR,—In compliance with section 145 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,” I have the honour to forward notice that a poll was taken on Thursday, the 11th day of September instant, for and against the proposal of the South Dunedin Council to borrow the sum of £10,000 on the security of a special rate of sixpence in the pound on the annual rateable value of property, for the purpose of drainage and works.

The following votes were recorded:—

For the proposal — 466
Against 10
Informal 5

As the number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal exceeds one-half of the number of burgesses (viz., 676), I have declared the proposal carried.

Revocation of Appointment of a Bonding Warehouse.

CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the authority in me for this purpose vested, I, the Commissioner of Trade and Customs, do, by this order under my hand, revoke and annul the appointment of the under-mentioned warehouse for the reception and security of goods entered to be warehoused without payment of duty upon the first entry thereof, namely:—

Port Of Wellington.

The upstairs portion of a wood and iron building situate on Section No. 59, Reclaimed Land, fronting to Panama street, and known as

DRANSFIELD’S BOND.

CUSTOMS. — In exercise of the powers in me for this purpose vested by “The Customs Laws Consolidation Act, 1882,” I, the Commissioner of Trade and Customs, do hereby approve and appoint the under-mentioned warehouse to be a warehouse for the reception of goods under bond:—

Port of Wellington.

A building constructed of wood and iron, situate on Section No. 59, Reclaimed Land, fronting to Panama Street, to be known as

THE UNITED BOND,

Notice to Mariners, No. 42 of 1884.

PORT OF PICTON.

Wellington, N.Z., 15th September, 1884.

THE Harbourmaster at Picton notifies that vessels or boats drawing over 6 feet of water should not approach within 30 feet of the north end, or 15 feet of the west side, of the boat wharf at that port, as the stumps of some of the piles of the old wharf are showing above the bottom.

ALFRED COLVILLE, of Temuka, New Zealand, has deposited at this office a specification of the said invention; and I have appointed Thursday, the 20th day of November next, at 12 o’clock noon, at this office, to hear the said application and all objections thereto; and I require all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 5th day of November next, at this office, particulars in writing of, their objections to the said application, otherwise they will be precluded from urging the same.
