Validating certain Proceedings of the Opotiki Road Board,
County of Whakatane.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this third day of
September, 1884.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS it has been made to appear that the yearly
balance-sheet and statements of the Board of the
Opotiki Road District for the year ended the thirty-first day
of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, were
not certified as correct by the Auditor before the thirtieth
day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, as
required by “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” but that the
same were so certified on the second day of June, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-four: And whereas it
has also been made to appear that the annual meeting of
the said Board, and the annual meeting of the ratepayers of
the said district, were not held during the first week of the
month of May last past, as required by the said Act, but
were held on the ninth day of June, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-four: And whereas it is expedient to
validate the things so done after the respective times re-
quired by the said Act as aforesaid:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
Colony of New Zealand, and in exercise of the powers vested
in him by “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” doth hereby validate
the certificate of the Auditor as to the correctness of the said
balance sheet and statements of the said Board so given as
aforesaid; and in exercise of the like power, and with the
like advice and consent as aforesaid, doth hereby also validate
the holding of the annual meeting of the Board, and the
annual meeting of the ratepayers of the said district, on the
said ninth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-four, as aforesaid, and all proceedings taken thereat
respectively.

Special Order made by the Whangarei County Council.—
Slaughterhouses Act brought into force.

THE following special order, made by the Whangarei
County Council, is published in accordance with “The
Counties Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1882.”

EDWARD WAKEFIELD.

SPECIAL ORDER.

SPECIAL order, passed by the Whangarei County Council on
Wednesday, 11th June, 1884, as follows:—

Resolved, That the resolution* re bringing the Slaughter-
houses Act into force in this county be confirmed.

I hereby certify that the foregoing special order was made
in accordance with “The Counties Act 1876 Amendment Act,
1882.”

  • Resolution referred to: Resolved, That this Council
    resolves to bring the Slaughterhouses Act into force in the
    county, and that a special meeting be called for that pur-
    pose, and that the Chairman be authorized to take the pre-
    liminary steps as required by the Act.

Number of Commissioners of Gore Town District, County
of Southland, increased.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to ap-
point that the number of the members of the Board
of Commissioners of the Town District of Gore be increased
to seven, as provided by “The Town Districts Act 1881
Amendment Act, 1883.”
