In the matter of " The Public Works Act, 1882."
N OTICE is hereby given that the Rakaia and Ashburton
Forks Railway Company (Limited) propose taking, for
the purposes of a railway, all that parcel of land in the
Provincial District of Canterbury and Colony of New Zea-
land, containing by admeasurement 3 roods 14 perches or
thereabouts, being part of the Section numbered 5732 on the
map or plan of the Chief Surveyor of the said provincial
district, deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor thereof
setting out and describing the rural lands in the South
Rakaia District thereof; commencing at a point on the
westernmost boundary of the said section distant from the
northern corner thereof 10715 links measured southerly, and
in a straight line with a bearing of 182° 2' 33" along the said
westernmost boundary; thence north-easterly and in a
straight line with a bearing of 56° 43' 52" to a point on the
north-eastern boundary of the said section, being a distance
of 1068 links; thence south-easterly and in a straight line
with a bearing of 119° 36' along the said north-eastern
boundary to a point, being a distance of 549 links; thence
south-westerly and in a straight line with a bearing of
234° 6' to a point on the westernmost boundary aforesaid,
being a distance of 1167*1 links: thence northerly and in a
straight line with a bearing of 2° 2' 33" along the said
westernmost boundary to the commencing point, being a
distance of 1257 links.
A plan showing the said land has been deposited at the
railway station at Rakaia.
All persons affected are requested to set forth in writing
any well-grounded objections to the making of the said rail-
way or to the taking of the said land, and to send such
writing to the Secretary of the said company, at the regis-
tered office of the said company, 173, Hereford Street, in the
City of Christchurch, on or before the 16th day of October,
1884.

caries, London, England, 1881, now residing in
Auckland, having deposited my diploma with the Registrar
of Births, Deaths, and Marriages of Auckland District, this
day give notice that I intend to apply to be registered under
"The Medical Practitioners Registration Act, 1869," on the
6th day of October, 1884.

NEW ZEALAND HANSARD.
GREAT REDUCTION IN PRICE.
T HE House of Representatives having ordered that
Hansard should be offered for sale to the public at the
cost of paper, presswork, and binding (exclusive of composi-
tion), this is to notify that the subscription of Ten Shillings for
each session hitherto charged is now REDUCED to TWOPENCE
per PART, post free. The average number of parts per
session is thirty, so that subscribers wishing to take them for
the session should pay for that number.
All Postmasters throughout the colony are authorized to
receive the names and addresses of intending subscribers, on
prepayment of subscriptions.
Orders will be supplied only from the date of their recep-
tion at the Government Printing Office at Wellington,
unless previous numbers should be in stock.
Hansard is published in bi-weekly parts on Tuesdays and
Fridays.
