Extending Time for Preparation of County Roll, County of
Selwyn.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this thirteenth
day of August, 1883.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS it has been made to appear, owing to
unavoidable circumstances, the preparation of the
county roll of the County of Selwyn, and the taking of
certain steps consequent on such preparation, cannot be
made and taken within the times limited by "The Counties
Act, 1876"; and it is expedient to extend the said times
respectively:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the
powers conferred upon him by the said Act, and by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, doth hereby order and declare that the several times
mentioned in the second column of the Schedule hereto
shall be the respective times for taking the several steps set
opposite such times in the first column of the said Schedule
respectively.

(1) For preparing the rolls for ridings (1) Until the 1st
within the County of Selwyn under
section 42 of "The Counties Act,
1876"
Aug., 1883.

(2) Time for which such rolls shall be open (2) From the 4th
for inspection under section 46 of the
said Act

20th
Aug.,
1883.

(3) Time for appeals against the said rolls (3) Until the 20th
under section 47 of the said Act
Aug., 1883.

(4) Assessment Courts may sit for hearing (4) Until the 10th
applications with reference to the said
rolls, and adjourn, under section 48 of
the said Act
Sept., 1883.

(5) Time when rolls shall come into force (5) On the 12th
Sept., 1883.

Notice of Intention of Exchange of Land.

WHEREAS by "The Public Reserves Act, 1881," it is,
amongst other things, enacted that the Governor may
declare his intention to make, change, exchange, or alter the
dedication of any public reserve now or hereafter vested in
Her Majesty or the Governor for any of the purposes named
in Class II. of the Schedule to the said Act, whether the
same be granted or not; and, in the case of any reserves
made under the authority of section one hundred and forty-
four of "The Land Act, 1877," if it shall, in the opinion of
the Governor, be expedient to change the purpose of such
reserves or any part thereof from the purpose or presumed
purpose for which it was set apart to any other purpose, or if
it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to
exchange any of the land comprised in such reserve for other
land of equal value, to be dedicated to one or more purposes
named in the said Class II., the Governor may, by notice in
the Gazette, declare his intention to make such change,
exchange, or dedication, as the case may be, and in such
notice declare the manner and terms in which the same is
intended to be so made:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in
exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested
in me by "The Public Reserves Act, 1881," aforesaid, declare
my intention to exchange the portion of the reserve described
in the first column of the Schedule hereto for the land
described in the second column of the said Schedule.

towards the West by Section

East by other part of said
Section No. 18, by a line
