filling cans or tins with Meat in the Meat Preserving
Process.
MARMADUKE CLARKE, of Tomoana, in the Provincial Dis-
trict of Hawke's Bay, in the Colony of New Zealand, Manager
of Works, has deposited at this office a specification of the
said invention; and I have appointed Thursday, the 13th day
of December next, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this
office, to hear the said application and all objections thereto;
and I require all persons having an interest in opposing the
grant of such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 28th
day of November next, at this office, particulars in writing of
their objections to the said application, otherwise they will
be precluded from urging the same.

been pleased to pronounce the under-mentioned gold-
mining leases cancelled, and that the ground is now open for
application as if no leases of the said ground had ever been
applied for:-

Gold-Mining Lease to be granted.
IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of "The
Mines Act, 1877," and with the regulations made under
that Act for the granting of leases for gold-mining purposes,
it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease of
Crown lands for gold-mining purposes to the applicants
specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid
objections against such lease.
Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the
grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and lodged
with the Warden at Ross, on or before the 31st day of
August, 1883.
Copy of the application made and plan annexed may be
seen at the Warden's Office at Ross.
SCHEDULE.
APPLICANTS: The Alpine Gold-mining Company. Style under
which it is intended to conduct the business: "Alpine Gold-
mining Company;" 10 acres, at Stoney Creek, in the Totara
Mining District.
Given under my hand, at Hokitika, this twenty-fifth
