Lands to be taken for Approach to Dunedin Railway-station,
under the Authority of "The Public Works Act, 1882."

NOTICE is hereby given that a certain public work, to wit,
the construction of an approach to the Dunedin Railway-
station, is required, and for the purposes of such public work
the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required to be
taken; and notice is further given that a copy of the plan of
the said lands so required to be taken is deposited in the Public
Works Office, Dunedin, and is there open for inspection; and
all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or
by the taking of the said lands, if they have any well-grounded
objections to the execution of the said public work or to the
taking of such lands, are hereby required to set forth such
objections in writing, and to send such writing, within forty
days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister
for Public Works, Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement
10.5 perches, situate in the Town of Dunedin, being Section No.
1A, Block LIJ.; also all that piece or parcel of land containing
by admeasurement 23.3 perches, situate in the Town of Dunedin,
being parts of Sections Nos. 1 and 2, Block LII., commencing
at a point on the eastern boundary of Castle Street distant 133.4
links in a north-easterly direction from the intersection of Castle
and Willis Streets. Bounded-Westerly by Castle Street, 23
links; Northerly by towing path, 199.8 links; South-easterly
by other parts of said Sections Nos. 1 and 2, 235.7 links;
Westerly by Section No. 1A, 118.8 links, to the point of com-
mencement: be all the aforesaid linkages and areas either more
or less; the said parcels of land being more particularly deli-
neated on a plan marked P.W.D. 10025, a copy of which is
deposited in the Public Works Office, Dunedin, in the Provin-
cial District of Otago.

Alterations and Additions to the Scale of Fares and Charges
in Force on the New Zealand Railways.

IN accordance with section 144 of "The Public Works Act,
1882," I, Walter Woods Johnston, the Minister for Public
Works, do hereby make the following additions to the scale
of charges for the purposes specified below, to come into force
from and after the 28th day of May, 1883:-

PART V.-CLASSIFICATION OF GOODS.
Bark, packed, in bags or bundles ... Class D.
Bark, loose ... Class C.
Sulphur, loose (owners' risk) ... Class D.

Tenders for Inland Mail Service.

General Post Office,

SEALED Tenders will be received at the Chief Post Office,
Invercargill, until Saturday, the 9th June proximo, for
the conveyance of mails by horse, or coach, between the under-
mentioned places, for a period of eighteen months, from the 1st
July next:-

Between the Post Offices, Queenstown and Arrow River,
each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; returning from Arrow
River to Queenstown the following day.

Forms of tender, with the terms and conditions of contract,
may be procured at the Post Offices, Dunedin, Invercargill,
Arrow River, and Queenstown.

Notification of Vacancy of Seat in the House of Repre-
sentatives for the Electoral District of Bruce.

IN compliance with the provisions of the sixty-first section of
"The Regulation of Elections Act, 1881," I hereby notify
that JAMES RUTHERFORD, Esq., Member of the House of Repre-
sentatives for the Electoral District of Bruce, died on the 16th
day of May, 1883, and that the seat in the House of Representa-
tives for the said electoral district is vacant by reason of such
death.

the Colony of New South Wales, a Solicitor of the
Supreme Court of the said colony, has been appointed this

Supreme Court of New Zealand, in the said colony, under "The
Commissioners of the Supreme Court Act, 1875," for the pur-
pose of administering and taking all such oaths, affidavits, and
affirmations as in the said Act mentioned.

exterminating rabbits and vermin, to be known as "Sten-
house and Smith's Gaseous Self-acting Vermin and Rabbit
Exterminator."

GEORGE SETON STENHOUSE, Commission Agent, of Blenheim,
Marlborough, in the Colony of New Zealand, and JOHN SMITH,
of the same place, Tinsmith, have deposited at this office a
specification of the said invention; and I have appointed
Friday, the 10th day of August next, at 11 o'clock in the fore-
noon, at this office, to hear the said application and all
objections thereto; and I require all persons having an interest
in opposing the grant of such Letters Patent to leave, on or
before the 2nd day of August next, at this office, particulars in
writing of their objections to the said application, otherwise
they will be precluded from urging the same.
