  • The sales of stamps by the Post Office since the 1st April, 1882-the date of the introduction of the combined postage and revenue stamps-do not represent the actual value of the stamps sold for
    postage. The postage paid by stamps during the year ended the 31st March, 1883, was £131,500, or £32,875 for each quarter.
