NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT A WATER-
RACE.
Ahaura, Nelson South-West Gold Fields,
19th March, 1883.
To the Mining Registrar at Ahaura.
TAKE notice that it is intended to construct a Water-race to
divert and use water for driving machinery, commencing
near a point in Callaghan's Creek, known as the Old Man Bluff,
about one and a half miles above where the main Grey Valley
Road crosses the said creek ; 100 chains from commencement
being through Crown lands and the remaining distance through
the leasehold of the applicant, T. H. Garth, and terminating at
my saw-mill, situated on Section No. 75, Block IV., Mawheranui
Survey District.
The length of such race is one and a half miles or thereabouts,
and its intended course is south-east and north-west.
The mean depth of such race is 2 feet, and the mean breadth
is 1 foot 6 inches ; and it is proposed to divert three Govern-
ment-heads of water.

Any person objecting to the granting of this application must
lodge his objection in writing at the Mining Registrar's Office
at Ahaura within forty-two clear days from the date hereof.

I, the undersigned, hereby make application to register the
Deep Valley West Quartz-Mining Company as a Limited
Company under the provisions of "The Mining Companies Act,
1872."

The name of the Company is to be the Deep Valley West
Quartz-Mining Company (Limited). -
The place of intended operations is at Long Valley, in the
County of Vincent, in the Provincial District of Otago and
Colony of New Zealand. -
The registered office of the Company will be situated at
Dunedin. -
The nominal capital of the Company is twelve thou-
sand pounds, in twelve thousand shares of one pound each. -
The number of shares subscribed for is twelve thousand.

The number of paid-up shares is nil.
-
The amount considered as already paid up is six thousand
pounds, equal to ten shillings per share. -
The name of the Manager is William Henry Churton.
