SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point in Section No. 20, Opaki Block, the
said point being the termination of a portion of the railway
from Masterton to Papatu, vid Woodville, as described in the
Proclamation dated the 11th June, 1879, and published
in the New Zealand Gazette No. 67, of the 19th June, 1879;
proceeding thence in a generally northerly direction for a dis-
tance of 2 miles and 75ยพ chains or thereabouts, and passing in,
into, through, or over the following land: Sections Nos. 20, 21,
22, 25, 26, 27, 59, 60, 61, and terminating at a point in Section
No. 67, all within the County of Wairarapa West, Provincial
District of Wellington, Colony of New Zealand; including all
adjoining and intervening places, lands, roads, reserves, streams,
rivers, and watercourses; in the manner delineated upon the
plan marked P.W.D. 9927, signed by the Hon. Walter Woods
Johnston, Minister for Public Works, deposited in the office of
the Registrar of the Supreme Court at Wellington, in the Pro-
vincial District of Wellington; the total length being 2 miles
75 chains or thereabouts.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in
Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington,
this second day of April, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by a Proclamation issued under the authority of
sections one hundred and twenty-two, one hundred and twenty-
three, and one hundred and twenty-four of "The Public
Works Act, 1876," the middle line of a further portion of the
branch line of railway from Waipahi to Heriot Burn, from the
main line, Waitaki-Bluff Railway, being one of the railways
specified in "The Public Works Act, 1879," was defined: And
whereas pursuant to the one hundred and twenty-fifth section
of "The Public Works Act, 1876," the Minister for Public
Works has caused to be made and, on the nineteenth day of
August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-two, to be
deposited in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court at
Dunedin, in the Provincial District of Otago, such maps and
plans as were necessary to explain the said further portion of
the said branch line of railway and the land through which the
same passes, and such maps and plans were referred to in such
Proclamation as aforesaid: And whereas "The Public Works
Act, 1879," enacts that such of the railways mentioned therein
as are unfinished may be completed under the provisions of
"The Public Works Act, 1876," "The Public Works Act 1876
Amendment Act, 1878," and "The Public Works Act, 1879:"
And whereas the two hundred and twenty-ninth section of
"The Public Works Act, 1882," enacts as follows: Any public
work authorized under the authority of any Act repealed by
this Act, or of any Act or Ordinance repealed by "The Public
Works Act, 1876," and any land required to be taken, purchased,
or acquired for such work, or anything commenced under any
such authority as aforesaid, may be continued, taken, purchased,
or acquired, executed, carried out, enforced, and completed
under the provisions of this Act: And whereas the land
described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for the
said further portion of the said branch line of railway from
Waipahi to Heriot Burn, from the main line, Waitaki to Bluff:
Now, therefore, I., William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the
powers and authorities conferred by sections one hundred and
thirty and two hundred and twenty-nine of "The Public Works
Act, 1882," and of every other power and authority in anywise
enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that
the land described in the Schedule hereto is taken for the said
further portion of the said branch line of railway.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement
12 acres 3 roods 2 perches, situate in the Township of Kelso,
being Sections Nos. 1, 2, and 3, and the northern portions of
Sections Nos. 14, 15, and 16, Block IV.; Sections Nos. 2, 3, 4,
5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 18, and 19, Block III.; and Sections Nos.
4 and 5, Block II.
All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement
1 rood, situate in the Township of Kelso, being Section No. 10,
Block III.
All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement
1 rood, situate in the Township of Kelso, being Section No. 1,
Block III.
All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement
5 acres and 26 perches, being portions of Sections Nos. 5 and 4,
Greenvale Survey District, Block II., commencing at a point
on the southern boundary of Section No. 5 aforesaid 1570
links distant from the south-eastern corner of said section.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the Canterbury Interior Main Line of railway is
one of the railways specified in the First Schedule to "The
Public Works Act, 1879," and which Act is, in the seventh
section thereof, declared to be a special Act authorizing the
construction of such railway; and the same is unfinished, and
it has been determined to construct and maintain a further
portion of such railway:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and in pur-
suance of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the
aforesaid section seven of "The Public Works Act, 1879," and
by sections one hundred and twenty-nine and one hundred and
thirty of "The Public Works Act, 1882," and in exercise of
every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that
behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle line of
the said further portion of the said railway shall be from a point
in Reserve number four hundred and thirteen, Malvern Road
District, to a point in Sheffield Station-yard; all within the
Malvern Road District, Provincial District of Canterbury; as
defined and set forth in the Schedule hereto. The said middle
line and the land through which the same passes are set forth
in the map and plan marked P.W.D. 9917, and authenticated
for the purposes of this Proclamation by the signature of the
Honourable Walter Woods Johnston, the Minister for Public
Works, and which said map and plan is deposited in the office
of the Registrar of the Supreme Court at Christchurch, in the
Provincial District of Canterbury.
SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point in Reserve No. 413, in the Malvern Road
District, the said point being the termination of the Waima-
kariri Gorge Section of the Canterbury Interior Main Line of
railway, as described in the Proclamation dated the 16th
November, 1880, and published in the New Zealand Gazette
No. 109, of the 18th November, 1880; proceeding thence
generally in a south-westerly direction for a distance of two
miles or thereabouts; passing in, through, or over Reserve
No. 413, and terminating in Sheffield Station-yard, all within the
Malvern Road District, Provincial District of Canterbury,
Colony of New Zealand; including all adjoining and intervening
places, lands, reserves, streams, rivers, and watercourses; in the
manner delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 9917, signed
