Notification of Consent to Deviation of Waimate
Railway.
JAMES PRENDERGAST,
Administrator of the Government.
WHEREAS the Waimate Railway Company
(Limited) propose, in terms of the forty-third
section of "The District Railways Act, 1877," to
deviate the railway from the line of works laid down
in the plan and described in the book of reference
prepared under section four of the said Act, and to take
and use for the purpose of such deviation land not
comprised within the limits of deviation set forth in
such plan and book of reference: And whereas the
consent in writing has been obtained of the owners
of the land through which the said deviation of the
railway passes:
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, Knight,
Chief Justice, the Administrator of the Government
of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of all powers and authorities in anywise
enabling me in this behalf, do hereby notify and
declare that I do hereby consent to such deviation of
the Waimate Railway, as set forth in the plan and
Schedule hereto attached.
intersection of the said terrace with the main road;
thence passes along the face of the said terrace to
the main road at its crossing of the north branch of
the Waihao River; thence crosses the said north
branch at a distance of 20 feet from the centre of
the present traffic bridge to the intersection of the
main road with the Elephant Hill Road; thence
across the said Elephant Hill Road, which is to be
diverted as shown on plan; thence through Rural
Section No. 22624 to the south branch of the
Waihao River; thence across the said south branch
and Rural Section No. 20175 to the Elephant Hill
Road; thence across the said Elephant Hill Road
at a point about 2500 links from where said road
crosses the south branch of the Waihao River;
thence through Rural Section No. 18960 to a point
about 2000 links east of Rural Section No. 20508
and 600 links south of Elephant Hill Road, where
the said middle line re-enters the original limits of
deviation: as the same is more particularly delineated
upon the plan marked P.W.D. 9528, hereto attached.

first day of January, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-three.

SCHEDULE.
THE middle line leaves limits of deviation at a point
in Reserve No. 145 about 100 links to the eastward
thence passes along the face of the said terrace to
the main road at its crossing of the north branch of
the Waihao River; thence crosses the said north
branch at a distance of 20 feet from the centre of
the present traffic bridge to the intersection of the
main road with the Elephant Hill Road; thence
across the said Elephant Hill Road, which is to be
diverted as shown on plan; thence through Rural
Section No. 6411 and enters Rural Section
No. 6298 at a point about 1650 links from the junc-
tion of boundary-line between Rural Sections Nos.
6411 and 6298 with the Gorge Road; thence in a
south-westerly direction passes through Rural Sec-
tions Nos. 6298, 10724, 6302, and I.P.R. to Rural
Section No. 10406, where it re-enters original limits of
deviation at a point on northern boundary-line of said
Rural Section No. 10406 distant about 6 chains (650
links) from junction of said boundary-line with the
Gorge Road.
The middle line leaves limits of deviation at a point
in Rural Section No. 15888 about 200 links south of
the easternmost corner of Rural Section No. 12378;
thence intersects south-west end of boundary-line
between Rural Sections Nos. 12378 and 11585; thence
in a south-westerly direction passes through Rural
Sections Nos. 11585, 12379, 15888, 15887 to a point
in the eastern boundary of Rural Section No. 17868
25 links south of Rural Section No. 14754; thence
passes through Rural Section No. 17868 at a distance
of 25 links from Rural Sections Nos. 14754 and
17849 to a point about 200 links from the southern-
most point of Rural Section No. 17849; thence
passes through said Rural Section No. 17849 for a
distance of about 500 links; thence passes through
Rural Sections Nos. 17868 and 17867 to a point in
said Rural Section No. 17867 distant about 25 links
from its southern boundary and 350 links from its
eastern boundary where the said middle line re-enters
original limits of deviation.
The middle line leaves original limits of deviation
at a point in Rural Section No. 22167 distant about
1050 links from western boundary of Section No.
17867 and 2900 links from the main road; thence
passes in a generally westerly direction through
Rural Section No. 22167 to the Waihao River Ter-
race at a point about 2300 links to the south-east of
Deputy-Registrars of Marriages, &c., appointed.

to be the Deputies of the Registrars of Marriages and of Births
and Deaths for the districts respectively set opposite their

United States Vice-Consul, for the office of Acting German
Consul at Auckland, vice G. von der Heyde, Esq., resigned;
and that His Excellency the Administrator of the Government
has been pleased to recognize Mr. Gamble provisionally in that
capacity.
