Order and Savings-Bank Office will be opened at

PATENT for a method of making Children's and other
Elastic-sided Boots much easier to put on, and at the
same time of preserving the Elastic.
ROBERT JAMES FERMOR WILLSON, of Dunedin, in the
Colony of New Zealand, has deposited at this office a speci-
fication of the said invention; and I have appointed Friday,
the 15th day of February next, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon,
at this office, to hear the said application and all objections
thereto; and I require all persons having an interest in
opposing the grant of such Letters Patent to leave, on or
before the 31st day of January next, at this office, particulars
in writing of their objections to the said application, other-

Examination for the Civil Service of India.

Education Department,
Wellington, 14th November, 1883.
ON the 3rd June, 1884, and following days, an examina-
tion, open to all qualified persons, will be held in

London. Persons desirous to be admitted as candidates
must apply on forms which may be obtained from "The
Secretary, Civil Service Commission, London, S.W.," or from
the undersigned.

The forms must be returned so as to be received at the
office of the Civil Service Commissioner in London on or
before the 31st March, 1884.

Sittings of the Supreme Court in the Otago and Southland
Judicial District.

WE, three of the Judges of the Supreme Court of New
Zealand, in pursuance of the powers vested in us by
"The Supreme Court Act, 1882," hereby make the following
rules respecting the places and times for holding sittings of
the Supreme Court and sittings in Chambers in the Judicial
District of Otago and Southland for the year 1884 :-

Sittings for the trial of criminal cases will be held at the
Courthouse, Dunedin, to commence on the following days, at
10 a.m. :--

Monday, 7th January.
Monday, 31st March.
Monday, 7th July.
Monday, 6th October.

Sittings for the trial of civil actions will be held at the
Courthouse, Dunedin, to commence on the following days,
at 10 a.m.:-

Monday, 14th January.
Monday, 24th March.
Monday, 7th April.
Monday, 16th June.
Monday, 14th July.
Monday, 11th August.
Monday, 15th September.
Monday, 13th October.

The trial of causes under "The Divorce and Matrimonial
Causes Act, 1867," may take place at any of the above-men-
tioned sittings for the trial of civil actions.

Sittings of the Court in Banco will be held at the Court-
house, Dunedin, every Wednesday, except during vacation,
or in the absence of the Judge, or unless the Judge is engaged
on other business.

Sittings in Chambers will be held at the Judge's Chambers,
in the Courthouse, Dunedin, every Tuesday and Friday,
except during vacation, or in the absence of the Judge, or
unless the Judge is engaged on other business.

Sittings in Chambers at other times and in vacation, in
respect of urgent business, may be held at such times and
places as may suit the convenience of the Judge.

Sittings for the trial of criminal and civil cases, and of
causes under the Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Act, will
be held at the Courthouse, Invercargill, to commence on the
following days, at 10 a.m. :--

Tuesday, 22nd April.
Tuesday, 26th August.
Tuesday, 9th December.

Sittings for the trial of criminal and civil cases, and of
causes under the Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Act, will
be held at the Courthouse, Oamaru, to commence on the
following days, at 10 a.m. :--

Tuesday, 11th March.
Tuesday, 9th September.

Business in Chambers may be disposed of in the course of
these sittings at such days and hours as the Judge may
appoint.

If any of the days above appointed for sittings should be a
public holiday, the sittings will commence on the day after
the day so appointed.

Given under our hands, this thirtieth day of November, one
thousand eight hundred and thirty-three.
