Wairoa Road Board.

THE following special order, made by the Patea County
Council, is published in accordance with "The Counties
Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1882."

SPECIAL ORDER.

I, Edward Charles Horner, of Patea, Clerk to the Patea
County Council, hereby certify that the following special
order has been duly made in compliance with "The Counties
Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1883," at a meeting of the Council
held on Wednesday, the 7th November, 1883:-

That a special order be made dissolving the Wairoa High-
way Board from this day.

By-laws made by Wairarapa East County Council.-Width
of Tires.

THE following special order, made by the Wairarapa East
County Council, is published in accordance with "The
Counties Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1882."

SPECIAL ORDER passed by the County Council of East
Wairarapa on the 8th day of November, 1883.

BY-LAWS of the Council of the Wairarapa East County,
made by special order of the said Council on the 8th day of
November, 1883, and sealed with the common seal of the
said county :--

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by
"The Counties Act, 1876," and "The Counties Act Amend-
ment Act, 1882," the Council of the Wairarapa East County
ordains as follows, that is to say,-

  1. No owner or driver or person in charge of any vehicle
    drawn upon two wheels, the tires of which wheels, or either
    of them, shall be less than 5 inches in width, shall carry
    or suffer or cause to be carried in or upon such vehicle a
    greater weight than 1 ton 10 cwt.

  2. No owner or driver or person in charge of any vehicle
    drawn upon four wheels, the tires of which wheels, or any of
    them, shall be less than 5 inches in width, shall carry or suffer
    or cause to be carried in or upon such vehicle a greater
    weight than 2 tons 10 cwt.

  3. It shall be lawful for any person acting under the au-
    thority of the Council at all times to examine and measure
    the tires of the wheels of any vehicle, and to weigh the
    contents of any such vehicle; and every owner or driver or
    person in charge as aforesaid shall, whenever required by any
    duly-authorised person so to do, produce and furnish to such
    last-mentioned person satisfactory proof of the weight carried
    by any such vehicle.

  4. Every owner or driver or person in charge of any such
    vehicle, or any other person, who shall obstruct or refuse to
    permit such measuring and examination as aforesaid, or who
    shall refuse or neglect to produce such proof as aforesaid, or
    who shall in any way offend against the provisions of any of
    these by-laws, shall, on conviction thereof before any two
    Justices of the Peace, be liable to pay a fine not exceeding
    Β£2; and any person who shall be convicted of any subsequent
    offence against any of these by-laws shall be liable to pay a
    fine not exceeding Β£5 for every such offence.

  5. These by-laws shall apply only to roads within the said
    county which, at the date of these by-laws coming into
    operation, shall be either wholly or partly macadamized or
    metalled, and which shall from time to time hereafter be
    either wholly or partly macadamized or metalled.

These by-laws shall come into operation on the 1st day of
April, 1884.

Passed by the said Council, this 8th day of November,
1883.
