JAMES GRAY, of Dunedin, in the Colony of New Zea-
land, Agricultural Implement Maker, has deposited at this
office a specification of the said invention; and I have
appointed Thursday, the 17th day of January next, at 12
o'clock noon, at this office, to hear the said application
and all objections thereto; and I require all persons having
an interest in opposing the grant of such Letters Patent to
leave, on or before the 2nd day of January next, at this
office, particulars in writing of their objections to the said
application, otherwise they will be precluded from urging
the same.

Sittings of the Supreme Court in the Northern Judicial
District.
WE, three Judges of the Supreme Court of New
Zealand, in pursuance of the powers vested in us by
"The Supreme Court Act, 1882," hereby make the following
rules respecting the places and times for holding sittings of
the Supreme Court and sittings in Chambers, in the Northern
Judicial District of New Zealand, for the year 1884:--
Sittings for the trial of Criminal cases will be held at the
Courthouse, Auckland, to commence on the following days,
at 11 a.m.:-
Monday, 7th January.
Tuesday, 1st April.
Tuesday, 1st July.
Wednesday, 1st October.
Sittings for the trial of Civil actions will be held at the
Courthouse, Auckland, to commence on the following days,
at 10 a.m.;-
Monday, 14th January.
Tuesday, 8th April.
Monday, 2nd June.
Tuesday, 8th July.
Monday, 4th August.
Monday, 1st September.
Wednesday, 8th October.
The trial of causes under "The Divoree and Matrimonial
Causes Act, 1867," may take place at any of the above-
mentioned sittings for the trial of Civil actions.
Sittings of the Court in Banco and Bankruptcy will be
held at the Courthouse, Auckland, every Wednesday, except
during vacation, the abse absence of the Judge, or when he is
engaged on other business.
Sittings in Chambers will be held at the Judge's Chambers,
in the Courthouse, Auckland, every Tuesday and Friday,
except during vacation, the absence of the Judge, or when he
is engaged on other business. Sittings in Chambers at other
times and in vacation, in respect of urgent business, may be
held at such times and places as may suit the convenience
of the Judge.
Sittings for the trial of Criminal and Civil cases, and of
causes under the Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Act, will
be held at the Courthouse, New Plymouth, to commence on
the following days at 10.30 a.m. :-
Thursday, 1st May.
Thursday, 30th October.
Business in Banco, Bankruptcy, and Chambers may be
disposed of in the course of these sittings, at such days and
hours as the Judge may appoint.
If any of the days above appointed for sittings should be a
public holiday, the sittings will commence on the day after
the day so appointed.
Given under our hands this eighth day of November, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.

Gold-Mining Lease to be granted.
N conformity with the thirty-seventh section of "The
Mines Act, 1877," and with the regulations made under
that Act for the granting of leases for gold-mining purposes,
it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease of
Crown lands for gold-mining purposes to the applicant
specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid
objections against such lease.
Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the
grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and lodged
with the Warden at Arrow on or before the 12th day of
December, 1883.
Copy of the application made and plan annexed may be
seen at the Warden's Office at Arrow.
SCHEDULE.
APPLICANT: John Thomas Burrell. Style under which it is
intended to conduct the business: "The Hand-in-Hand
Gold-Mining Company." 6 acres, in the Wakatipu Mining
District.
