Validating Election of Tuhikaramea Road Board, County
of Waipa.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this second
day of November, 1883.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS it has been made to appear that the Board
of the Tuhikaramea Road District, on or about the
thirtieth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-three, by resolution under the provisions of section
forty-eight of "The Road Boards Act, 1882" (hereinafter
termed "the said Act"), made a special order declaring
that all elections of members of the said Board should be
conducted in the manner provided by sections forty-eight
and forty-nine of the said Act, and notice of the intention to
pass such resolution was publicly notified as provided by
section seventy-five of the said Act: And whereas, pursuant
to such special order, an election of members of the said
Board was held, and certain persons hereinafter named were
declared by the Returning Officer acting at such election to
be duly elected as members of the said Board, and such
declaration was publicly notified in the Waikato Times news-
paper of the second day of June, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-three: And whereas, owing to the default and
the disappearance of the late Clerk to the said Road Board-
who also acted as the said Returning Officer-the copy of
the said special order and the certificate required to be sent to
the Colonial Secretary by the provisions of section seventy-
six of the said Act were never so sent, and the same were
consequently never gazetted as by the said section is directed;
and it appears expedient to extend the time for forwarding
such copy, order, and certificate, and to validate the said
election notwithstanding the irregularities herein specified:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, and in pursuance and
exercise of the powers conferred upon him by "The Road
Boards Act, 1882," doth hereby extend until the thirtieth day
of November, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three,
the time for forwarding the copy of the said special order and
the certificate by the Chairman of the meeting at which such
special order was made as required by the provisions of the
seventy-sixth section of the said Act; and doth hereby vali-
date the election as members of the said Board of Frederick
William Lang, Frank Joseph Vickers, John Glasson, John
McMiken, and William Livingstone, the persons declared to
have been so elected as aforesaid, and doth hereby declare
that the said persons shall continue to hold office as such
Board in the same manner as if the irregularities herein-
before mentioned had not taken place.

Special Order made by Rodney County Council.-Whaka-
pirau Road District constituted.

THE following special order, made by the Rodney County
Council, is published in accordance with "The
Counties Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1882."

SPECIAL ORDER.

THAT all that portion of the outlying district of Albert
Riding bounded by the Otamatea, Arapaoa, and Te Pohi
Rivers, on the East, South, and West respectively, and by
Hobson County on the North, shall be constituted a new
road district, to be named the Whakapirau Road District,
from this day, September 29, 1883.

I hereby certify that the above special order was duly
made at a meeting of the Rodney County Council, at Wark-
worth, on Saturday, September 29, duly convened.

DESCRIPTION OF BOUNDARIES OF THE WHAKAPIRAU HIGH-
WAY DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the Provincial District of Auckland bounded
towards the North by the Paparoa and Wairau Highway
Districts, as described in Gazette No. 42, 18th May, 1883,
page 645, from Te Pahi River to the Wairau River; towards
the East and South-east by the Wairau and Otamatea Rivers;
and towards the South-west and West by the waters of the
Arapaoa, Whakapirau, and Te Pahi Rivers to the place of
commencement.
