Officiating Ministers for 1883.—Notice No. 24.

PURSUANT to the provisions of an Act of the General
Assembly of New Zealand, passed in the forty-fourth
year of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, and intituled
"The Marriage Act, 1880," the following names of Officiating
Ministers within the meaning of the said Act are published
for general information :—

Roman Catholic Church.
The Reverend James Goggan.
The Reverend William Joseph Lewis.

Application for a Patent.

PATENT for an Invention for combining the Turning of

and Boring of Naves of Wheels at one operation.

WILLIAM LANGDOWN, of St. Asaph Street, in the City of
Christchurch, in the Colony of New Zealand, has deposited
at this office a specification of the said invention; and I
have appointed Friday, the 11th day of January next, at
11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the said
application and all objections thereto; and I require all
persons having an interest in opposing the grant of such
Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 27th day of
December next, at this office, particulars in writing of
their objections to the said application, otherwise they will
be precluded from urging the same.

Dissolution of Company.

In the matter of "The Companies Act, 1882;" and in the
matter of the affidavit and application of George William
Moss, of Greymouth, in the Provincial District of West-
land, Secretary of the Grey River Steam Tug Company
(Limited).

I

HEREBY notify that no objection to such application
having been made and lodged with me as by the said
Act required, I do now declare such company to be dis-
solved.

Te Makarini Scholarships.

THREE Scholarships of the annual value of £35 each, to
be held at the Native College, Te Aute, Hawke's Bay,
are offered for competition to Maori or half-caste youths, on
the conditions laid down in the Regulations of the Trustees
of the Te Makarini Scholarships Fund. The examination
will be held at convenient centres on the 17th and 18th of
December, 1883.

Candidates must; either directly or through their teachers,
send notice to the Inspector of Native Schools, Education
Department, Wellington, of their intention to present them-
selves for examination. Such notice must be posted not
later than the 31st October next.

Copies of the regulations and forms of notice may be ob-
tained from teachers of Native schools and boarding institu-
tions, the Secretaries to Education Boards, or the Secretary
to the Education Department.

Since the above notice was issued the Trustees have
offered an extra Junior Scholarship for competition at this
year's examination. There will therefore be two Senior and
two Junior Scholarships to be awarded.

Gold Fields Notices.

Gold-Mining Lease to be granted.

IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of "The
Mines Act, 1877," and with the regulations made under
that Act for the granting of leases for gold-mining purposes,
it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease of
Crown lands for gold-mining purposes to the applicants
specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid
objections against such lease.

Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the
grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and lodged
with the Warden at Queenstown on or before the 13th day of
November, 1883.

Copy of the application made and plan annexed may be
seen at the Warden's Office at Queenstown.

SCHEDULE.

APPLICANTS: Joseph Kennedy and others. Style under
which it is intended to conduct the business: "Mount
Earnslaw Mining Lease." 16 acres, in the Wakatipu Mining
District.

Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this twenty-third
day of October, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-three.

eighty-three.

Mining Company." 16 acres, in the Dunstan Mining Dis-
trict.

eighty-three.

Crown Lands Notices.

Tenders for Sections in University Reserve.

Crown Lands Office,
Patea, 5th October, 1883.

W RITTEN tenders are invited for the under-mentioned
sections in the University Reserve, Whenuakura
District, near Patea, in accordance with specified conditions.
Term of lease, fourteen years.

Upset price, 6d. per acre for the first seven years, and 1s.
per acre for the remainder of term.

Compensation for improvements to be paid by incoming
tenant, if any, up to £5 per acre.

Detailed conditions to be seen at the Land Office, Patea.
The land is about seven miles from the Borough of Patea,
and is approached by a good road; the bush is light, and the
soil of the best quality.
