Defining the Middle Line of Portion of the Foxton
to New Plymouth Railway β Waverley to Patea
Section.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the line of railway from Foxton to New
Plymouth is one of the railways specified in
the First Schedule to "The Public Works Act, 1879,"
and which Act is therein declared to be a special Act
authorizing the construction of such railway; and the
same is unfinished, and it has been determined to
construct and maintain a further portion of such
railway:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise
and in pursuance of the powers and authorities
conferred on me by sections one hundred and twenty-
two, one hundred and twenty-three, one hundred and
twenty-four, and one hundred and twenty-five of
"The Public Works Act, 1876," and in exercise of
every other power and authority enabling me in that
behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle
line of the said further portion of the said railway
shall be from a point on the western boundary of
Section number three hundred and thirty-six, in the
Wairoa Highway District, Provincial District of
Wellington, to a point in Section number one hun-
dred and ten, in the Patea East Highway District,
Carlyle Survey District, in the Provincial District of
Taranaki, as defined and set forth in the Schedule
hereto. The said middle line and the land through
which the same passes are set forth in the map and
plan marked P.W.D. 8826, and authenticated for
the purposes of this Proclamation by the signature
of the Honorable John Hall, Minister acting for
the Minister for Public Works, and which said map
and plan is deposited in the office of the Registrar
of the Supreme Court at Wellington, in the Pro-
vincial District of Wellington, and in the office of
the Registrar of the Supreme Court at New Ply-
mouth, in the Provincial District of Taranaki.
SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point on the western boundary of
Section No. 336, in the Wairoa Highway District,
Provincial District of Wellington, and Colony of
New Zealand, said point being the termination of a
portion of the line of railway from Napier to a junc-
tion with the railway from New Plymouth to Wai-
tara, at Sentry Hill, as described in a Proclamation
dated the 4th February, 1881, and published in the
New Zealand Gazette No. 12, of the 10th February,
1881; and proceeding in a generally westerly direction
for a distance of 8 miles 18 chains or thereabouts,
and passing in, into, through, or over the following
lands: Sections Nos. 337, 338, 153, 152, 340, 341,
281, 79, 342, 372, 371, 350, 224, 223, 222, 202,
32, 85, 33, and 23, all within the Wairoa Highway
District, and the Wairoa Survey District, South
Ward, Provincial District of Wellington, and Colony
of New Zealand; and Sections Nos. 130, 84, 109,
and terminating at a point in Section No. 110,
within the Patea East Highway District and the
Carlyle Survey District, Provincial District of Tara-
naki, and Colony of New Zealand; and including all
adjoining and intervening places, lands, roads, re-
serves, streams, rivers, and watercourses; in the
manner delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 8826,
signed by the Hon. John Hall, Minister Acting for
the Minister for Public Works, and deposited in
the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court
at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Welling-
ton, and in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme
Court at New Plymouth, in the Provincial District
of Taranaki; the total distance being 8 miles 18
chains.
