Description of Land.
All that parcel of land containing 3 acres, more or
less, situated in the Alexandra Survey District,
County of Raglan, and numbered 5518 (in red) on
the plan deposited in the Survey Office, Auckland.
Bounded towards the North-east by a line, 515 links;
towards the South-east by the Koere Stream;
towards the South-west by a line, 260 links; and
towards the North-west by a line, 700 links: be all
the aforesaid linkages more or less.
Given under my hand, at Auckland, this 2nd
day of September, 1882.

New Zealand Company.—Commissioner's Report.
JOSEPH GODFREY HOLDSWORTH, a Commissioner
duly appointed by virtue of the Ordinance No.
15, Session XI., of the Legislative Council of the
Islands of New Zealand, to hear and decide claims
to land by persons claiming title thereto from,
through, or under the New Zealand Company, report
that the claim of JOHN WILLIAM ROBERTS and GEORGE
HUNTER, Trustees and Executors of the will of
ROBERT JENKINS, deceased, having been referred to
me by the Colonial Secretary, I do hereby decide
that the said John William Roberts and George
Hunter are entitled to a Crown grant for Section No.
1, Evans Bay District, as Trustees and Executors of
the will of Robert Jenkins, deceased. The legal
estate to be antevested in the grantees as from the
8th day of June, 1861.
Dated at Wellington, the 15th day of September,
1882.

Te Makarini Scholarships.
THREE scholarships, to be held at the Native
College, Te Aute, Hawke's Bay, are offered by
the Trustees of the fund instituted in memory of the
late Sir Donald McLean for promoting the higher
education of Maori youths.
Two of these scholarships are open to any Maori
or half-caste whose age on the 30th November, 1882,
shall not exceed fifteen years, and who shall have
attended a Native college or school for the preceding
twelve months. The remaining scholarship is open
to any Maori or half-caste whose age on the 30th
November, 1882, shall not exceed thirteen years, and
who shall have attended a Native village school for
the preceding twelve months..
The scholarships are of the annual value of £35,
and are tenable for two years from the 1st January,
1883.
The examination will be held at convenient centres
on the 18th and 19th December, 1882. Candidates
must, either directly or through their teachers, send
notice to the Inspector of Native Schools, Education
Department, Wellington, of their intention to pre-
sent themselves for examination. Such notice must
be posted not later than the 31st October.
Copies of the regulations and forms of notice may
be obtained from teachers of Native schools and
boarding institutions, the Secretaries to Education
Boards, or the Secretary to the Education Depart-
ment.
