Bounded—Southerly by a road, 158 links; Westerly
by a road, 128 links; North-westerly by a road, 6767,
1845, 651, and 49 links respectively; Northerly by
Medway Street, 51 links; Easterly by Ordsal Street,
1047 links; Southerly by Mersey Street, 387 links;
South-easterly, to commencing point, by Mersey,
Gordon, and Ashton Streets, Town Sections Nos. 1
and 2, Block X., Sections Nos. 1 and 8, Block XII.,
Sections Nos. 1 and 14, Block XIV., Stratford, Old-
ham, and Hyde Streets, Sections Nos. 23 and 12,
Bury Street, and Sections Nos. 11 and 1, Block
XVI., 8276 links.

Also all those sections numbered 3, 4, 9, and 19,
in the Township of Gore, Hokonui Survey District,
containing by admeasurement 2 acres and 16 perches,
more or less. Bounded—Northerly by Sections Nos.
11 and 2; Easterly by public road; Southerly by
Sections Nos. 5 and 8: all in Block I.; Westerly by
Ordsal Street.

Be all the aforesaid linkages and areas either more
or less; and the several parcels of land being situate in
the Provincial District of Otago, Colony of New Zea-
land, and are more particularly delineated upon the
plan marked P.W.D. 8212, deposited in the office of
the Minister for Public Works at Wellington, in the
Provincial District of Wellington.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
James Prendergast, Knight, Chief Justice,
the Administrator of the Government of
Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand
and its Dependencies; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the Govern-
ment House, at Wellington, this seventh
day of August, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-two.

Land taken by the Borough of Sydenham for the
Purposes of a Road.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Municipal Corporations Act,
1876," it is enacted that the Council of a
borough constituted under that Act may take any
land within the borough for any of the purposes of
that Act in the manner provided by the Second Part
of "The Public Works Act, 1876" (hereinafter called
"the said Act"): And whereas the Council of the
Borough of Sydenham, requiring to take the land
described in the Schedule hereto for the purposes of
a road, has laid before me the memorial referred to
by section twenty-five of the said Act, praying me to
declare, by Proclamation, that such land is taken for
such purpose:

And whereas the Council of the said borough has,
in accordance with the twenty-eighth section of "The
Public Works Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1878,"
laid before me a statutory declaration that the said
Council is authorized by law to undertake the work
for which the land described in the memorial laid
before me under section twenty-five of the said Act
is required, that all the provisions of the said Act as
to taking such land have been complied with, and
that the said Council is of opinion that the proposed
works should be executed, and that no private injury
will be done for which due compensation is not pro-
vided by the said Act:

And whereas it appears to me that all things
required by the said "Municipal Corporations Act,
1876," "The Public Works Act, 1876," and "The
Public Works Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1878," to

be done and performed to authorize the taking of
such land have been done and performed, and it is
expedient to declare that such land is taken for the
purpose aforesaid:

Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, the Adminis-
trator of the Government of the Colony of New Zea-
land, by and with the advice of the Executive Council
of the said colony, in exercise and in pursuance of
the powers and authorities in me vested by the said
Acts, and of any other power and authority enabling
me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare
that the land described in the Schedule hereto is
taken by the Council of the said borough for the
purposes of a road; and that, from and after the
tenth day of August, one thousand eight hun-
dred and eighty-two, the said land shall become
vested in fee-simple in the Mayor, Councillors, and
Burgesses of the Borough of Sydenham, discharged
from all mortgages, charges, claims, estates, and
interests of what kind soever, for the purposes of a
road as aforesaid.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement 1.8 perches, more or less, being portion
of Rural Section No. 239 (coloured pink), occupied
by J. W. Carter having a frontage of 21 feet 4 inches
to Colombo Street and 21 feet 2 inches to Addison
Street, the northern boundary being on an average
656.6 links from the northern boundary of Rural
Section No. 239.

Also all that piece or parcel of land containing by
admeasurement 3.3 perches, more or less, being
portion of Rural Section No. 239 (coloured purple),
occupied by T. Wallis, sen., having a frontage of 40
feet 1 inch to Colombo Street and 39 feet 3 inches to
Addison Street, the northern boundary being on an
average 688.9 links from the northern boundary of
Rural Section No. 239.

Also all that piece or parcel of land containing by
admeasurement 4 perches, more or less, being portion
of Rural Section No. 239 (coloured green), occupied
by T. Wallis, juu., having a frontage of 4 feet 7
inches to Colombo Street and 5 feet 7 inches to
Addison Street, the northern boundary being on an
average 748.9 links from the northern boundary of
Rural Section No. 239; the above parcels of land
being situate in the Borough of Sydenham, Canter-
bury: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less,
and the same being more particularly delineated on
the map attached to the memorial above referred to.

James Prendergast, Knight, Chief Justice,
the Administrator of the Government of
Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand
and its Dependencies; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
