Mining Notices.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT WATER-RACE.

To the Mining Registrar at Hokitika, and to all other persons whom it may concern.

TAKE notice that it is intended to construct a Water-race and divert water for mining purposes, commencing at a point on the most southerly creek which flows from the Mount Tuhua Range into the Kanieri Lake, the said point being distant about one and a half miles from the said lake; from thence running generally in a north-westerly direction along the southern slope of Mount Tuhua Range, a distance of five miles; thence in a westerly direction along the leading spurs towards the Bluespur, a distance of about eight miles, and terminating at a point about 20 chains due south of Bluespur Township.

The length of such race is thirteen miles or thereabouts; the mean depth of such race is 6 feet, and the mean breadth is 6 feet; and it is proposed to divert fifty Government-heads of water. The estimated time for the construction of such race is two years.

To the Mining Registrar at Naseby of the Mount Ida Mining District, and all other persons whom it may concern.

TAKE notice that it is intended to construct two Dam-banks and form two Reservoirs for the storage of water for industrial purposes, and also to construct a Water-race connecting the said two reservoirs; and that the following are the particulars respecting such reservoirs and water-race:—

RESERVOIR NO. 1.

Locality: Immediately below Government reservoir in Roach’s Gully, near Naseby.
Length of dam: 7 chains.
Greatest height: 6 feet.
Greatest breadth of base: 36 feet.
Area of reservoir: 1 acre.
Estimated time for construction: Six months.

RESERVOIR NO. 2.

Locality: On west boundary of Borough of Naseby, at junction of Derg and Holywood Streets, outside the borough.
Length of dam: 6 chains.
Greatest height: 6 feet.
Greatest breadth of base: 24 feet.
Area of reservoir: 2 acres.
Estimated time for construction: Six months.

WATER-RACE.

Commencing at Reservoir No. 1, and terminating at Reservoir No. 2; 13 chains long, 18 inches wide, 18 inches broad; to carry six heads of water, and to be completed within six months.

To the Mining Registrar at Queenstown, Otago Gold Fields District, and Mining District of Wakatipu, and all other persons whom it may concern.

TAKE notice that it is intended to construct a Water-race and divert water from a point near the intersection of the Arrow and Queenstown Roads or Tracks, Skipper’s Road.

The said race will cross public roads and through Crown property, and terminate at Section No. 93, Block XIX., Shotover Survey District, and will take in any storm-water channels coming from the Coronet Range and its sides, and is required for wool-washing purposes.

Mean depth: 1 foot.
Mean width: 18 inches.
Time for construction: Six months.
Length: About four miles.
Carrying capacity: Two heads.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO APPLY FOR A WATER-RACE ALREADY CONSTRUCTED.

To the Mining Registrar, also to the Warden at Arrow, in the Mining District of Otago Gold Fields, and to all others whom it may concern.

TAKE notice that it is intended to apply, for other than gold-mining purposes, to wit, for farm, station, and machinery purposes, for a Water-race situated 10 yards below Cook’s old race in Swiftthorn Creek, near Cardrona Track, Crown Terrace, and terminating at Lang’s Terrace, north side of Kawaru, and formerly held under certificate No. 375, and date 23rd November, 1880, the last renewal being dated 17th January, 1882, No. 6125. Under the provisions of subsection 1 of section 31 of “The Mines Act, 1877.”

The length of such race is about two miles, and course nearly south. Mean depth of race 2 feet,
