SCHEDULE.

  1. All horses crossing the bridge which are not
    driven in harness, or led by bridle or halter, and all
    cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, mules, and donkeys, must
    have a man behind them, and cattle, sheep, and
    horses, in mobs, must also have a man before them.

  2. Horses or light-wheeled vehicles will not be
    allowed to enter upon the bridge within twenty
    minutes, drays within thirty minutes, and cattle and
    sheep or pigs within one hour of the time that any
    train is due on the bridge.

  3. Horsemen or wheeled vehicles will not be
    allowed to travel at a greater rate than six miles an
    hour across the bridge.

  4. Traction engines and portable engines employed
    in agriculture, flax-dressing, or other purposes may
    pass over the bridge on their own wheels, provided
    they have no fewer than four travelling wheels with
    tires not less than five inches broad; the boiler must
    be empty, and all fire must be drawn at least half a
    mile distant from the bridge.

  5. No greater weight than three tons gross on any
    one pair of wheels with tires less than five inches
    broad will be permitted to cross the bridge.

  6. Any authorized officer of the Railway Depart-
    ment may, at his discretion, relax any of the restric-
    tions in clause 2, as the case may require.

  7. Any person or persons entering upon the
    bridge within the prohibited hours, or resisting the
    gatekeepers in the execution of their duties, will be
    subject to the penalty hereinafter mentioned.

  8. Any person in a state of intoxication will not
    be permitted to enter upon the bridge whilst in such
    condition.

  9. Any person offending against any of these regu-
    lations will be liable to a penalty not exceeding ten
    pounds.

  10. So far as applicable the general by-laws and
    regulations for the time being respectively in force
    and affecting the traffic on the New Zealand railways
    shall extend and apply to the Rakaia Bridge.

Extending Time for Preparation of Burgess Roll of
Borough of Waimate.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Offices, at Wellington, this
twenty-ninth day of April, 1882.

Present:

THE HONORABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN
COUNCIL.

WHEREAS it has been made to appear that
certain things required to be done by "The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," in connection
with the making and revision of the burgess lists or
rolls of the Borough of Waimate, cannot be done by
or within the time required by the said Act:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the power
and authority vested in him by the twelfth section of
the said Act, and by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth
hereby extend the time for the doing of the said
things in connection with the burgess lists or rolls of
the said Borough of Waimate, and doth declare that
the times for the doing of such several things shall
be those which are specified in the Schedule hereto
annexed.

SCHEDULE.

  1. For making out the burgess list: On or before
    the 1st June, 1882.

  2. Public notification of the burgess list, and the
    defaulters' list being ready for inspection: On the
    3rd June, 1882.

  3. Burgess and defaulters' list open for inspection,
    and delivery of objections thereto: Until the 15th
    June, 1882.

  4. Inspection of list of objections: From the 16th
    June to the 21st June, 1882.

  5. Sitting of Council to determine claims and
    objections: Between the 22nd June and the 30th
    June, 1882.

Burgess roll to come into force: On the 1st
August, 1882.

twenty-ninth day of April, 1882.

THE HONORABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN
COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by an Order in Council bearing date
the first day of November, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-one, the powers granted to
the Colonial Secretary under the seventy-fourth and
seventy-fifth sections of "The Lunatics Act, 1868,"
were delegated to the Honorable Frederick Whitaker:

Aud whereas it is expedient to delegate the said
powers in manner hereinafter expressed:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, doth by this present order delegate to

JOHN EDWIN MACDONALD, Esquire,

the powers granted to the Colonial Secretary under
the seventy-fourth and seventy-fifth sections of the
said Act, and doth hereby order that the said powers
shall be exercised by John Edwin Macdonald,
Esquire, within the Auckland District.

Validating Election of Chairman of Napier Harbour
Board.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Offices, at Wellington, this
twenty-ninth day of April, 1882.

Present:

THE HONORABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN
COUNCIL.

WHEREAS it is provided by section fifty-two of
"The Harbours Act, 1878," that every Harbour
Board shall hold an annual meeting for the election
of one of its members as Chairman on the first Tues-
day in each year after the anniversary of the day of
the first meeting of the Board: And whereas the
Napier Harbour Board, through misapprehension or
accident, did not hold its annual meeting for this
purpose on the first Tuesday after the anniversary
of its first meeting, but did on its next ordinary
meeting, held on the twenty-first day of March,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-two, elect
John Davies Ormond, one of its members, as Chair-
man:
