Conditions.
- The bonus not to be given for any quantity less
than 100 tons. - Notice of the intention to erect ironworks and
claim the bonus must be given to the Colonial Secre-
tary before the 31st December, 1882. - The bonus must be claimed before the 31st De-
cember, 1883. - In the event of more than one claimant giving
such notice, not more than seven-tenths of the bonus
may be claimed by the first producer, and not more
than three-tenths by the second producer; but if
only one claimant becomes a producer on the above
conditions, he may claim the whole of the bonus. - The iron in respect of which any bonus is
claimed, and the ore from which it is manufactured,
will be examined by an officer to be appointed by the
Government, who may require the production of
bonâ fide account sales of quantities not less than
100 tons weight, showing that such iron has been
sold at a fair market price as pig-iron.

Additional Bonuses on Colonial Industries.

NOTICE is hereby given that the following bonuses
will be paid on articles in the Colony of New
Zealand, as under:-
OSTRICHES.
A bonus of five pounds (£5) per head will be given
for healthy ostrich chicks landed in New Zealand for
the purpose of being reared and maintained in the
colony; the number of any importation to be not
less than ten nor more than fifty.
BUTTER OR CHEESE.
A bonus of five hundred pounds (£500) will be
given for the first 25 tons of butter or the first 50
tons of cheese (produced in a factory worked on the
American principle, and to which factory any farmer,
subject to certain conditions, may send his milk),
which shall be exported from New Zealand, and sold
at such prices in a foreign market as shall show that
the articles are of fair quality.
Conditions.
- Notice of intention to claim either of the above
bonuses must be given in writing to the Colonial
Secretary not later than the 31st December, 1882. - The claim must be made before the 30th June,

THE Thames Harbour Board have given notice
that, on and after the 1st May, 1882, the basket
light on the south-west side of the Kauaeranga
Channel leading to Shortland Wharf will be removed,
and in the stead thereof a white light will be shown
on the east side of the said Kauaeranga Channel, at a
point E.N.E. of the basket light about to be removed,
and distant five and one-fifth chains therefrom.

Alterations and Additions to the Scale of Fares and
Charges in Force on the New Zealand Railways.
IN accordance with the By-laws for the New Zea-
land Railways, fixed by Orders in Council dated
the 6th January, 1881, and the 22nd September,
1881, the following scale of charges for the purposes
specified below is hereby fixed, in addition to that
at present in force, and such scale shall come into
force from and after the 1st May, 1882:-
PART IV.- LOCAL RATES.
HURUNUI-BLUFF SECTION.
Class A.-Sulphuric Acid.
Sulphuric acid packed (at owners' risk), dangerous
goods, minimum quantity 5 tons, will be charged as
Class A; any less quantity will be charged double
rates, Class A.
