Commissioner of Customs, or with any provisions of
"The Harbours Act, 1878," or its amendments, or
any regulations thereunder.

  1. That the rights, powers, and privileges conferred
    by this Order in Council shall continue in force for
    ten years, computed from the first day of May, one
    thousand eight hundred and eighty-one, unless in
    the meantime altered, modified, or revoked.

  2. That the rights, powers, and privileges conferred
    under or by virtue of this Order in Council may be
    at any time resumed by the Governor, on giving to
    Messrs. Wigmore and Tolerton six calendar months'
    notice in writing. Any such notice shall be sufficient
    if given by the Governor or the Minister having
    charge of the Marine Department, or any person
    acting under his or their instructions, and delivered
    at the last known address of the said Messrs. Wig-
    more and Tolerton, their administrators or assigns.

Certain Newspapers appointed Provincial Gazettes.

A. GORDON, Governor.

WHEREAS by the twelfth section of "The Abo-
lition of Provinces Act, 1875," it is, among
other things, enacted that, in Acts of the General
Assembly, and in every Act or Ordinance of the
Legislature of an abolished province under the said
Act, the expression "Provincial Gazette" or "Pro-
vincial Government Gazette," or other similar expres-
sions, should, with respect to any provincial district,
be deemed to mean the New Zealand Gazette, or such
newspaper as from time to time may be appointed by
the Governor for the purpose of inserting therein
notifications of any kind relating to the government
of the colony, or the administration of the Govern-
ment within any provincial district:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pur-
suance and exercise of every power and authority
vested in me in that behalf, do hereby revoke all
appointments heretofore made, and in lieu thereof
do hereby appoint the newspapers specified in the
Schedule hereto to be the newspapers for the pur-
pose of inserting therein, during the year one thou-
sand eight hundred and eighty-two, all notifications
which, by any Act of the General Assembly or Ordi-
nance of any Provincial Council, are required to be
inserted in the Provincial Government Gazette within
the provincial district named opposite the name of
each newspaper respectively in such Schedule.

Fixing Sittings at Patea of the District Court of
Taranaki.

ARTHUR GORDON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and au-
thority in this behalf enabling me, I, Arthur
Hamilton Gordon, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby fix and appoint that sittings
at Patea of the District Court of Taranaki, for civil
and criminal business, shall be held as follows, in
lieu of those previously fixed and appointed to be
held there :--

In the Courthouse at Patea, on the second Wed-
nesday in the months of January, April, July, and
October in each year.

Provided that in case any of the days so fixed as
aforesaid shall happen to be a holiday, then the Court
appointed for that day shall be holden on the first
day thereafter not being a holiday.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this eighteenth day of January,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
two.

Fixing Sittings of District Court of Wanganui.

ARTHUR GORDON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and au-
thority in that behalf enabling me, I, Arthur
Hamilton Gordon, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby fix and appoint that
sittings of the District Court of Wanganui shall be
held as follows, in lieu of those previously fixed and
appointed :--

In the Courthouse at Wanganui, for the despatch
of civil and criminal business, on the fourth Mon-
day in the months of March, June, and September,
and on the second Monday in the month of Decem-
ber, in each year.

In the Courthouse at Palmerston North, for the
despatch of civil and criminal business, on the fourth
Monday in the months of February, May, August,
and November in each year.

Provided that in case any of the days so fixed as
aforesaid shall happen to be a holiday, then the Court
appointed for that day shall be holden on the first
day thereafter not being a holiday.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this eighteenth day of January,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
two.

Lunatic Asylums appointed.

HIS Excellency the Governor in Council has been
pleased to appoint
EDWARD WILLIAM SEAGAR
to be House Steward of the Sunnyside Lunatic
Asylum, Christchurch; and also to appoint
JAMES HUME, Esq.,
to be House Steward of the Lunatic Asylums at
Dunedin and Seacliff. Appointments to date from
the 1st December, 1881.

appointed.
