In the matter of a Bill intituled
{ "The Union Bank of Australia
(Limited) Act."
NOTICE is hereby given that the Union Bank of
Australia (Limited) intend to present a petition
to the General Assembly of New Zealand, at its next
session, praying for leave to introduce a Bill to be
intituled "The Union Bank of Australia (Limited)
Act, 1882." By the said Bill it is intended to re-
peal the Ordinance of the Governor and Legislative
Council of New Zealand intituled "An Ordinance
for facilitating Proceedings by and against a certain
Joint-Stock Company called the Union Bank of
Australia, and for other purposes therein men-
tioned," Session III., No. 7; and it is intended to
contain provisions continuing to the Union Bank of
Australia (Limited) the powers conferred on the
Union Bank of Australia by section 5 of "The
Banks and Bankers Act, 1880." Copies of the said
Bill will be deposited in the office of the Examiner of
Standing Orders on or before the commencement of
the session.

CANTERBURY DISTRICT.
I, JOSEPH BESWICK, Sheriff of the District of
Timaru, hereby give notice that, under a writ of
fieri facias, issued to me out of the Supreme Court
of New Zealand, at Christchurch, at the suit of
WILLIAM SEAGO SAVAGE, of Christchurch, Publican,
I have this day taken in execution the fee-simple of
THOMAS ALEXANDER, formerly of Timaru, Hotel-
keeper, but now of New Brighton, near Christchurch,
Farmer, in that piece of land situated in the District
of Timaru, containing one rood thirty-seven perches
or thereabouts, being the Lots numbered 51 and 52
on the plan deposited in the Land Registry Office,
Christchurch, as No. 263, comprised in certificate
of title, Vol. xxxviii., folio 136, with the appurte-
nances to the said piece of land belonging. And I
hereby also give notice that I intend to cause the
said piece of land to be sold at the auction-rooms of
Mr. Moss Jonas, in the Town of Timaru, on Tuesday,
the 25th day of April, 1882, at 2 o'clock in the
afternoon, unless the debt and costs be sooner paid.
The Solicitor for the Execution Creditor is Mr.
Andrew Jameson, of Great North Road, in the said
Town of Timaru.

Between JOHN BOYES, Plaintiff, and CHARLES HEN-
DERSON CLARKE, and ANNIE, Wife of the said
Charles Henderson Clarke, Defendants.
I HEREBY give notice that, under a writ of fieri
facias, duly issued out of the Supreme Court of
New Zealand, Canterbury District, against the real
and personal estate of the above-named Defend-
ants, and personal estate of the above-named Defen-
dant, ANNIE CLARKE, in all that parcel of land situate
in the City of Christchurch, at the junction of
Gloucester and Barbadoes Streets, containing by
admeasurement one rood and twelve perches, more or
less, and being parts of Sections Nos. 650 and 652
on the map of the City of Christchurch, commencing
at the south-eastern corner of Section No. 652;
thence due north along the eastern boundary of the
said section a distance of one chain sixty links and
two-thirds of a link, and extending back therefrom at
right angles a distance of two hundred and two
links, and forming a rectangular block; and that I
shall cause the same to be sold by public auction, by
Messieurs H. Matson and Co., at their sale-room
situate in Cashel Street, in the City of Christchurch,
on Saturday, the 6th day of May, 1882, at 2 o'clock
in the afternoon, unless the debt and costs shall have
been previously satisfied.
The Solicitor for the Execution Creditor is Henry
Selwood Austin, of Timaru.

Arbitration Act 1872 Amend-
ment Act, 1882."
NOTICE is hereby given that the undersigned
ALEXANDER BROGDEN, HENRY BROGDEN, and
JAMES BROGDEN (carrying on business in copartnership
under the style of "John Brogden and Sons"),
intend to present a petition to the General Assembly
of New Zealand, at its next session, praying for
leave to introduce a Bill to be intituled "The Govern-
ment Contractors Arbitration Act 1872 Amendment
Act, 1882." By the said Bill it is intended to repeal
the 4th, 7th, 12th, 13th, 14th, and 31st sections of
the said "Government Contractors Arbitration Act,
1872," and to amend or alter the provisions of the
said Act in other respects, so that the said Bill shall
contain provisions empowering the Minister for
Public Works to enter into such an arrangement as
he may deem expedient with the undersigned, for
the settlement by arbitration under the said Act as
amended, or otherwise, of the disputes between them
and the Government of New Zealand. Copies of
the said Bill will be deposited in the office of the
Examiner of Standing Orders on or before the com-
mencement of the session.
