THE following notice, received from his Worship
the Mayor of the Borough of Marton; is pub-
lished in accordance with section 145 of "The Muni-
cipal Corporations Act, 1876."

SIR,—I have the honor to inform you that a poll was
taken on Friday, the 23rd December, 1881, on a pro-
posal to raise a special loan of £3,000 for the purpose
of carrying out certain public works and improve-
ments within the borough, and that the votes re-
corded for and against the proposal are as follows:-
In favour of the proposal ... 136
Against the proposal ... 30
Informal ... 3
The number of votes for the proposal being more
than one-half the total number of burgesses (198),
I have declared the resolution in favour of the loan
carried.

Native School Site at Whirinaki.

THE following report of the person appointed by
the Governor, under the provisions of "The
Native Schools Sites Act, 1880," to ascertain the title
of certain Natives to land at Whirinaki, in the County
of Hokianga, appropriated by them for the site of a
school, having been adopted by the Governor, is
published in accordance with the said Act.

SIR,—With reference to your letter of 3rd November,
1881, informing me that His Excellency the Governor
had, in pursuance of "The Native Schools Sites Act,
1880," appointed me to ascertain the title of cer-
tain Natives to land at Whirinaki, appropriated by
them for the site of a school, I have the honor to
report that, after having given notice by advertise-
ment published in the Northern Luminary (copies
of which advertisement I also forwarded to Natives
residing on the spot), I visited Whirinaki on the
12th instant, and, after due inquiry, at which the
whole of the leading chiefs of the district were
present, am satisfied as to the ownership of the land,
and the willingness of the Native owners to appro-
priate the same for the site of a school, in accordance
with the requirements of "The Native Schools Sites
Act, 1880."
A tracing and description of the land so dealt
with, authenticated by my signature, is forwarded
herewith.

DESCRIPTION.
ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement 2 acres more or less, and being called
or known as the Whirinaki School Reserve, Block
V., Waoku Survey District, Provincial District of
[No. 3
Auckland. Bounded towards the North-west by a
line, 770 links; towards the North-east by a line,
262 links; towards the South-east by a line, 760
links; and thence towards the South-west by a line,
262 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

Approving and Appointing Bonding Warehouse.
CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the powers in me for
this purpose vested by "The Customs Regula-
tion Act, 1858," I, the Commissioner of Customs, do
hereby approve and appoint the under-mentioned
warehouse, viz.,—
Port of Invercargill.
A portion of the cellar of a brick building, with
iron roof, situate on Section 14, Block LXXV., Tay
and Wood Streets, to be known as
THE WOOD STREET BOND
—to be a warehouse for the reception of goods under
bond.
Given under my hand, at Wellington, this
fourth day of January, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-two.
