Revoking Notice declaring Clean and Infected Sheep
Districts and declaring New Clean and Infected
Sheep Districts within the Colony.-Notice No. 117.

IT is hereby notified that, under the provisions of
section 9 of "The Sheep Act, 1878," His Excel-
lency the Governor, this day, has revoked the notice
bearing date the 24th September, 1879, constituting
Clean Sheep Districts and Infected Sheep Districts.
IT IS FURTHER NOTIFIED that, under the above-
named authority, His Excellency the Governor, this
day, has declared the Sheep Districts of Napier,
Canterbury, Otago, and Waiau, as defined in the
Proclamations of the 24th December, 1878, the 23rd
of September, 1879, the 26th January, 1880, and the
2nd November, 1880, to be Clean Sheep Districts;
and the Sheep Districts of Auckland, New Plymouth,
Wellington, Nelson, and Marlborough, as defined
in the same Proclamations, to be Infected Sheep
Districts.

THE following changes in the Stock Department
are published for general information:--
In the Wellington Sheep and Cattle Districts.
Inspector T. G. Richardson, in charge of the Wel-
lington Subdivision, has been appointed to take
charge of the Wanganui Subdivision during the
suspension from duty of Inspectors Gerse and
Mackenzie.
Mr. Willis Ashton Scaife has been appointed an
Inspector of Sheep, from the 6th April, 1881.
Inspector W. A. Scaife has been appointed, from the
1st February, 1882, to be a Sheep Inspector and a
Deputy Cattle Inspector for the Wanganui Sub-
division.

WHEREAS on the 16th day of January, 1882,
the premises of Nicholas Welsh, situated at
Rakaia, in the Provincial District of Canterbury,
were set on fire:
This is to notify that His Excellency the Governor
will grant a free pardon to any person implicated in
the said act, not being the principal offender, who
shall give such information as will lead to the appre-
hension and conviction of any one or more of the
other offenders.

THE following Notice to Mariners, received from
the Minister for Foreign Affairs for the Hawaiian
Islands through the Consul for those islands at
Dunedin, is published for general information.

HAWAIIAN ISLANDS.
NOTICE is hereby given that, on and after the 1st
January, 1882, there will be exhibited on the extreme
south-west point of the Island of Molokai (known as
Lae o ka Laau) a fixed white Fresnel light of the
fourth order, showing from all points of the compass.
The light is 50 feet above sea-level, and is visible
from a vessel's deck in clear weather a distance of
eleven miles. The tower is painted white, the lan-
tern red.
Lat. 21° 6' N., long. 157° 18' W. (from Greenwich).
The following are the magnetic bearings (variation
9° 20' E.), extreme points of land being taken:
South point of Oahu, N. 81° W.; east point of
Oahu, N. 66° W.; Mokapu, north-east Oahu, N. 56°
W.; north-west point of Molokai, N. 8° E.; Lahaina
light, S. 78° E.; north-east point Lanai, S. 72° E.;
south-west point Lanai, S. 49° E.
Mariners are especially cautioned against con-
founding this with the north-west point of Molokai,
bearing as above, distant nine miles.

Amended Order altering Boundaries of District for
the Collection of Duty under "The Beer Duty
Act, 1880."
CUSTOMS.-In exercise of the power in me for
this purpose vested by "The Beer Duty Act,
1880," I, the Commissioner of Customs, do hereby
alter the boundaries of the District of Wanganui,
as the same are specified in Commissioner's Order
No. 133, of the seventh day of October, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty, and do hereby order that,
in addition to the boroughs and counties in such
order specified, the Boroughs of Hawera and Patea
respectively, as the same are severally defined in
Gazette No. 1, of the fifth day of January, one thou-
sand eight hundred and eighty-two, and No. 80, of
the thirteenth day of October, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-one, and the County of Hawera,
as the same is defined in Gazette No. 61, of the
twenty-eighth day of July, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-one, shall be included in the said
District of Wanganui.
